About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Fantastic staff brilliant place to go keeps your mind active I call it my happy place my husband and I go 5 days a week it's helping us with our illnesses I can't praise it enough and also you meet some lovely people”

“Very helpful, friendly and polite staff. Would have had 5 stars but it appeared to me that some of the overflow gutters in the pool need better attention to cleaning. To be fair it may be that it is staining that cannot be removed”

“Leominster centre is run down dirty soap dispencers have not been filled in weeks ceiling is half missing in the one room been like that for years mats are dirty kettle weights on the floor a hazard music center broken for weeks all in all a bad experiance”

“All perfect! Thanks so much for doing the free swimming sessions. My teenagers love it. Staff are lovely, everything is clean, showers are lovely and hot. Easy parking. This is our favourite swimming pool out of all those in Bridgend, because it's so light and airy. No criticisms. Thanks again x”

“I only use Pencoed centre for swimming and sauna. The pool is a good lane pool where there a good spread of abilities train or exercise, I feel lucky to swim with talented swimmers almost any morning of the week. My only gripe is the staff opening the shutters allowing you to scan in at almost the exact time the swim session is supposed to start. They are not proactive in getting customers in the water. Having a training plan and seeking to maximise the time in the water it gets frustrating when on a wknd session for example the pool is supposed to be open for an hour, the let you in to change at the last possible moment and keenly kick you out of the water at the session end time even when the nothing follows the wknd sessions for 15min. The staff are usually pretty friendly but when it comes to opening up in the morning they seem to forget we come early because we are on tight schedules and don’t have long to swim. It would be a huge improvement for swimmers if they’d just let us in 5/10mins before the swim time start to get changed and loosen up pool side. Aside from this the Halo centres are welcoming and some staff really do make you feel welcome. They are a very competitive price, they are ultimately centres of convenience and will struggle to compete with newer modern centres on quality of the site and equipment but that’s fine if they remember to be customer focused instead of turn up to do a job.”
