About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The gym needs to be made larger as all the machines and free weights are on top of each other. Some of the multi gym equipment show signs of age and corrosion.”

“Staff are lovely and the system is a positive one in my opinion, but part of the reason i left is due to the booking system, times i wanted was hardly available and if they was then it was too busy to enjoy. Expanding exercise areas in the building would be great. Lane swimming as a booking option would help lots of people i spoke to while there as there was not much room in the pool for swimming times with kids or classes going on too. (Personally i think it gets overbooked too often) This is not a negative review, im just pointing out things that would benefit if improved!”

“This morning we couldn’t get in for our 6 am swim which was really frustrating! After getting up early, we had to wait for 20 minutes while we watched your amazing life guards phoning around trying to desperately get someone with keys to come and open up because the person who should have left the keys in the dedicated lock out box had not!!! Very annoying and frustrating for all of us who had to stand out in the cold waiting!! And then all of our days were affected all because someone didn’t do their job! Why don’t you give all your staff a set of keys??? Your life guards surely can be trusted, they are a credit to you. Ray, however is not, he was the one who apparently hadn’t put the keys in the lock out box!!! I do t often complain but this situation was totally unavoidable”

“I enjoy swimming the sauna & the classes at halo. However there are some staff changes & some groups are not running on a Wednesday until a replacement can be found, which is disappointing. I have tried to book the pilates classes I. A Friday but is very difficult to get place & even if you are on the waiting list it depends if you see the message quickly to book it or usually in my case it's gone before I see it. Can wait list not be offered to the 1st person on the list instead as this would be fairer. It would be nice to have some other classes over the weekend as well. Staff are helpful & friendly & general facilities are good. It was nice to see today that Halloween decorations had been put up which I'm sure the children will enjoy.”

“Excellent local facility at tenbury wells. Was were I learnt to swim when a kid One area that could be improved is lane swimming in the day / afternoon on a weekend (very little at present)”

“Have used the centre for many years, however, recently there has been a significant price increase and the facilities do not match - the gym is very small and the sports hall is too expensive to hire for our local town sports team which is disappointing.”
