About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Good classes and big pool. No sauna, so am moving gyms to one that has. Small amount of floor space in gym for me who doesn't use many machines when working out. But it is a good gym, just not necessarily the right fit for me.”

“I quite like both the pool and centre. I prefer the centre gym to the pool gym because it's more open and spacious. There are also lots of machines to use and it's always very clean and tidy. I like the classes at both centres and I'm glad there's lots of variety and availability at both.”

“I’ve been going for about 8 years, doing five days a week. Staff lovely, always answer questions in a professional manner. My main issue is the standard of cleanliness is terrible at the moment, our one cleaning lady left a while ago, employed by Halo, place was great then. Since she left the cleaning has been taken over by a cleaning company, it’s a disgrace, toilets are often filthy, no toilet paper and bodily fluids on the floor or stuck to the bowl. Not pleasant. The other issue lately is not always covering classes when the original instructor is away. As we pay for the full monthly costs shouldn’t they be they covered? I’ve also noticed some of the class equipment is well past it’s sell by date, hand weights falling apart, bar and weights very old fashioned so you can’t change over quickly in pump classes. Saying all this I do enjoy going and the company of other members.”

“I have just joined your gym at Tenbury Wells. The gym is small but has everything you need. Joey was wonderful and organised a tour of the facilities and helped organise a workout especially tailored to me which was appreciated as I’m currently recovering from an operation and needed some help. Very friendly staff. Small request could you provide a drier for wet costumes please.”

“Parking is a nightmare. Toilets could do with being disinfected, they smell. Pads for putting in your car registration very often don't work.”

“Good basic equipment, never too busy so easy to get on with your workout. I think one of the things it could really benefit from is lockers in the changing rooms, especially for us that like to go right before work or after. Also being open past 2pm on a weekend would be nice (holmleigh)”

“The centre has improved since halo took over but there is still room for improvement. Dirty outdated changing rooms with broken lockers, inconvenient closing times and generally poor housekeeping.”
