About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Charging room from pool is cold wen u get out of pool. Floors always look durty pool floor up by deep end are damaged celling has massive hole in it . Hot tub doesn't work and the room it self smells expecily in steam room . Showers dont stay hot they go cold when they go off then when pushed back on u get suden cold water . I have arthritis n other health condition so they effect my time using it . Sorry .”

“Roof is leaking, so some equipment is getting wet, gutters are not maintained so the water pours over the side of the historic building. Stopped using the showers as the plastic curtains in the family room are brown on the bottom and shower trays an floor are not very clean.”

“The swimming pool and changing rooms are very clean. My daughter loved the family swim session and she originally didn't want to go, but has now wanted to come back after having fun. It is a shame that they can't have the bigger floats out. We were told that she could not have the teddy bear float as it was 'too big' and there were only about 5 people in the large pool. I have been very impressed by the cleanliness. I also think it is fantastic that you let young adults join age 12+. My son has really enjoyed attending and has gained independence after recently moving to the area. However, I do think that the membership is very expensive and the classes are pretty basic for the price charged. The booking system is also not very user friendly”

“I love how the new gym is set out but need more gym instructors to show you how to use the gym equipment All the staff are very welcoming and make you feel comfortable The only downfall is the changing areas and the swimming pool area really need sorting its falling apart”

“I have been a member of Halo for a number of years and continue to be extremely grateful that we have such a welcoming space that offers something for everyone close to home. I particularly enjoy the classes including Pilates, Yoga and Body Pump. The Spa is somewhere I go at least 5 times a week.”

“Beautiful pool and the staff are helpful and friendly. It would be better if there was a separate membership for pool only , as I don't use the other facilities. Also, because I can only go swimming at the weekend, it would be great if there was a lanes session on Friday early evening and on Saturday afternoon.”

“That is two weeks running my Sunday afternoon swim has been cancelled. This is not acceptable. Why is there reduced swimming for the whole two weeks. Reduced swimming should be bank holidays only!!!”

“Friendly staff. Great pool and changing facilities. Good timetable of sessions which could be improved by having more weekday lane swims that start at 6.30pm and a longer Saturday morning lane swim session. Also a quick refresh of the ladies changing room floor on busy evening sessions. Especially in the winter when shoes are muddy. Or better still, a no shoes policy in the changing rooms.”
