About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Friendly staff on reception. Helpful instructors. VERY FRUSTRATING to get booked into Pilates via the online booking, due to high demand. Can you add more Pilates classes to meet that demand?

I love halo the only adverse point is that teenagers come to the gym and occupy equipment for a long time without doing exercise just chatting with their friends or playing with their phones. I m really thinking to give up with halo just due to this issue which does not let me use my time perfectly

I really enjoyed my cardiac classes at Halo in Hereford . I initially started to keep my sister in law company, and carried on after her death.I have only stoped going due to a painful health problem. I will certainly re join if this can be sorted. My only grumble is the change of time for the class A lot of older people found the change from 11.30am to Ipm difficult.

Facilities and instruction very good, but more gentle exercise classes are needed or bigger rooms. Many people cannot book classes as truss members can book ahead of them. I would like encourage friends to come along but feel they would no t "get in".

Gym space is quite limited. There is a lack of equipment overall, and a lack of weights. If someone is squatting or deadlifting heavy, there is a lack of plates. Conversely, there is also a lack of small incremental weights. Training with my 17 year old son, having more 1.25kg and 2.5kg would help progress without having to make bigger jumps. Also, the opening hours don't always suit. At times I need to train later, but a 9pm closing doesn't enable that, and closing by 2pm on a weekend also limits options. As the monthly subscription is quite high, I think some of these things could be improved.

Facilities are clean, staff are friendly, plenty of parking and the gym and pool have everything you need.

Good facilities for a work out, just missing a separate (bigger) area (room) in which to do core exercises, stretching, etc. Yoga and HIIT classes at 9am would also be beneficial.

Good morning Nigel, Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying our workout facilities. We appreciate your suggestion regarding a dedicated space for stretching and core work. We understand how important a quiet, spacious area is for a proper cool-down or focused floor work, and we are currently looking at ways to optimize our floor layout to better accommodate this. We currently offer a Yoga class at 8:00 AM on Wednesdays, and HIIT classes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30 AM. We are also discussing the possibility of adding more 30-minute classes throughout the day and will inform all members once a decision has been made. Kind regards, The Halo Team

Disappointed that the swimming pool shuts so early during the X Mas period. No lunchtime or evening lane swimming Seems pointless paying a monthly membership in December. At lease the lunchtime lane swimming could be kept on non bank holidays.

I would like to try some of the group classes but I feel they’re mainly oriented towards the female demographic, body pump body blitz legs bums and tums barre, I’m also finding almost impossible to book a class as everything seemed to be booked up in advance.

Don’t have your child learn to swim here. Staff can’t be bothered and are really rude. Lucky to get a watering can to tip water into the pool. If your not a family member of the staff that have worked here (for too long tbh) then you’ll get no were. Very Clicky and uncomfortable.

Halo Maesteg Sports Centre is a fantastic local centre for fitness and wellbeing. The facilities are good, with a modern gym that offers a wide range of equipment. The variety of classes really is great. Particularly circuits, and indoor cycling. The classes are engaging, fun, and suited to different fitness levels. The instructors are supportive and encouraging, creating a motivating and friendly atmosphere that helps you push your limits and stay committed to your goals.

Staff excellent . Gym is kept clean and tidy . Some of the latest equipment is over complicated is my only negative comment , bar I think your rising subscription cost is high for what is supposed to be a charitable organisation apart from paying staff and I expect they aren't paid that well as there seems to be quite a turnover 🤔
