About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I attend Gentle Mobility and Cradiac Rehabilitation classes with Sue James and find it excellent. Friendly class and well trained trainer. If in the app easy to use & book classes & quick to sign in at reception desk.”

“Staff are very pleasant nothing to much trouble for them. I do object strong to the free swimming people coming in early when we pay & free swim don't start until 8am.”

We assure you that we take customer feedback seriously and even tho they do not pay for entry themselves, the cost is covered by the Welsh government. “Been going to leisure centres for a long time and i can say this is the best one by a mile. Wonderful staff very friendly and helpful, Very clean throughout the complex and change areas always spotless. These facilities are only as good as the staff and I can say that all the staff i came into contact with were brilliant.....caring and helpful with enquires and info on facilities ...staff on front desk were always welcoming and cheerful with a smile and such a nice way to start your visit. Due to a change in where i live will be unable to go as often but will still make an effort to visit now and again to see the staff and the lovely visitors i came across when i used to go very often”

“It would be great if the swimming pool was open all day and especially alot more at weekends for lane swimming. There is never any availability for pool fitness classes so it would be good if there were more. The pool area is often very wet on the floors which can make walking around difficult as i worry i will slip. The gym classes are really good and all the staff are amazingly friendly.”

“All staff are very friendly and helpful, with one trainer giving me 10 minutes of his time when he was actually using the gym on his day off! Good range of gym equipment although some machines have bigger 'steps' of 20 /lbkg rather than 5 or 10 (on others), and it makes a hard transition as you move to using bigger weights. Also, although there's cctv in the building, there are no cameras in the gym. I'm frequently there alone and while staff look through a window in the door occasionally, they can't see a lot of the gym from that angle. If I was ever to have some kind of accident while alone, it could be a very long time before another user came in and saw me. So: could you put cctv in the gym so that the front desk can see all of the gym?”

“The equipment could be better. Often the accessories for the cable machines is missing. There should also be free WiFi as when you book sessions in advance you can fast track in because the signal in the building isn’t great and there is no WiFi. Staff have also made this comment. Nice facility though. Staff are very helpful and it’s also nice and clean”
