About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

I go to do a bit of "heaving and grunting" to keep fit and it is fine.

I have been a member for about 10 years and while it is a friendly centre with good classes there does need to be more improvement made. The classes in studio 3 only allow for 15 people which is incredibly small and when you get difficulty trying to secure a place you find on attendance sometimes that people just squash in anyway. The virtual classes have stopped which was my favourite. The times of some great classes seems to be geared for non workers, anyone that works 9 to 5 there isn’t the same options. It’s hard to recommend because if I can’t get on classes why would I make it even more difficult for myself by getting others to join 😢

Great staff, good facilities, generally clean unless very busy. Gym - users need to be made to clean equipment after themselves as some leave it bery sweaty - disgusting!

Overall good facilities clean and tidy My main reason for leaving is the amount of young adults clogging up the gym. Hanging around on pieces of equipment in large groups with no gym staff checking. Also the amount of them who just walked into the gym without tagging in people opening the door for them. When staff were told they were no actions taken to check if they had membership.

Very clean and tidy , polite and lovely stuff but the gym it’s self is very poor needs so much more kit / machinery very basic

We have had an investment into our gym which has extended our gym from one small room into 3 rooms with new state of the art machines. We appreciate that everyone has different needs and like to use certain machines. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The facilities are great and well looked after. My daughter has swimming lessons too and thoroughly enjoys them!

Sometimes have to wait too long in queue to book on classes as the reception are making coffee etc. I can’t use phone to book on as I have no coverage so I find that inconvenient when I’m pushing on time for my class.

I have been a gym user for many years using cross trainers and bikes. Before the new equipment was installed I would have given 5 stars. I have reduced that to 3 stars because: 1) New cross trainers are much too heavy to use compared to the original ones. I'm reasonably fit but on a setting of 1 they push my heart rate into the red within minutes...could comfortably manage 30 minutes at setting 4 on the originals. 2) The new racing style bikes are really uncomfortable - racing saddles, stooped handlebar position. Hard to do more than 10 minutes. The original ones were much easier on the body. I have discussed this with local staff (who I know well and who do a great job). The pool is a great asset.
