About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Not sure if this is the best forum for this, I was told to fill in a feedback form to get a response when I phoned in. Because of Fairwater closing you have removed the public lane swims for Cwmbran and Pontypool to allow the dolphins etc to do their classes. It’s not shown as that however and just says full when you try and book which is very unhelpful and means people will keep looking going on the waiting list and trying to book each week. The ladies only swim on a Wednesday is still going ahead, could this be changed to male and female to allow a fair use of the pool for both sexes? I no longer have access to the pool in the evenings and am disappointed with poor planning and no information about the changes. This could have been briefed out weeks before when I attended multiple times by the staff if they were instructed to mention it, and should be shown on your app. Please contact my email with how you are planning on addressing this.

A very good gym, happy and polite staff with a good variety of machinery to cater towards individual needs for those looking to Build Muscle and keep fit. However to improve Halo there’s one machine that most gyms have which halo is missing which is a Seated Row Machine. Halo covers all areas of machinery to train chest, arms, back and legs. However there’s more emphasis on chest, arms and leg development and to compliment back muscles more a Seated Row Machine would be amazing and majority of people would use it. I believe if one of these were to be invested in it would complete all elements to train back. Or even a T Bar row machine.

Really nice atmospher, lovely staff. Steam room a bit 'iffey' but I know thats an ongoing project. I had been a memeber before, then came back for free swimming lessons which were great. I joined again and use the gym, pool and sauna/steam reguarly. Thanks to all.

The staff at Halo Ynysawdre are lovely. They always have time for you and walk around with a smile. I would give it 5 out 5 but the showers have seen better days and could do with a face lift. Gym is great, and swimming pool well run.

Great gym and classes at Holmer Road. The only negatives are safety in the car park for pedestrians and cleanliness of the toilets.

Enjoy going has everything I need. WiFi needs some attention as it’s always dropping. More staff during school holidays keeping an eye on things as there’s a lot of kids using equipment they have no idea about and only a matter of time before there’s an accident. Staff are always friendly and welcoming

Always happy to attend classes at the centre if I had any criticism it would be the toilet's, these quite often only have one open and there is drainage smells and perhaps it would be useful to have staff around in the gym to stop people hogging equipment just sitting on their phones.

Sometimes there should be more swimming lanes as too many people of slow speed are in the middle lane.

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback regarding the swimming lanes. We understand that overcrowding in the middle lane can be frustrating, especially during busy times. Your suggestion for additional lanes is appreciated, and we’ll certainly consider it as we explore ways to improve the swimming experience for everyone, we will also revisit policing of lane swimming during our regular staff training sessions. We hope to provide a more enjoyable visit in the future! Warm regards, Team Halo

I’ve selected yes for the previous question but there’s a number of issues I feel the centre has. I use the gym or pool almost daily so here’s my take: 1. Changing rooms are often dirty and smell of urine. 2. Same lockers are broke and unusable as before the refurb/covid. 3. Lane swim sessions are not frequent enough for serious swimmers and often don’t tally with what’s on the website. Take a look at the Pembrokeshire council pool timetable for how it should look. 4. Lifeguards don’t police the lanes so swimmers can swim in the lane of their ability. Quite often I encounter breast stroke swimming in the fast lane. Not good for either swim type. 5. Timetable doesn’t seem to work. Again, other pools have booking systems where if you’re not booked into a lane then you don’t swim. Sorry for the rant.

Booking system easy to use, teachers very friendly and do their best to make sure we enjoy your classes. The building is in need of maintenance the toilets are worn out and grotty as is some of the halls/studios. This is a shame for such a busy centre.

I have been a member for several years now and enjoy the classes in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with good instructors. I mostly attend Helen Lewis and Julie Lawrence classes which are adapted to meet different needs. The centre is let down by general overall poor cleanliness particularly ladies toilets upstairs and flooring downstairs hall when used outside of school term. Thank you to Kieran for making big effort on flooring on Hall. He is always helpful and greeted with a smile on entry. Changing rooms lockers out of order, nos on keys missing and locks on cubicles missing. Only one hairdryer at moment. I cannot comment on gym as do not use. Some of the mats are old and need replacing.
