About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Love coming to Halo. Use the centre regularly. Lovely new refurbishments have happenedwhich we are extremelylucky to have in our local centre. Most of the equipment that's used in classes could do with renewing. Especially the mats. More kettlebells and Dumbells. Clips for bar bells lots broken. All the staff are extremely friendly welcoming and chatty which is lovely when visiting.”

“Staff at the front desk are friendly and helpful. I have only used the pool. I am unimpressed with the life guards, they look, but they don't see. In a very short space of time, I have seen 2 people get into difficulties and have struggled to get themselves to safety. It's other swimmers asking, are you ok? I can't see the point of having a life guard there, it gives a false sense of security.”

“Over the last 3 weeks I have found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the ladies changing area is dirty and smelly. There is a door missing from one of the ladies showers.”

“The centre is well situated from the city centre and is in a pleasant setting next to the park and River Wye. What can I say I’m sure everyone wants it to be improved. Who wouldn’t want a bigger facility , more up to Date. A lot of swimming pools in the country have been around for decades. Hereford pool is one of them. It could benefit from some improvements. Funding is always the sticking point. The city of Hereford and surrounding areas deserves a better pool facility, especially considering this is the only pool within a radius of approximately 20 miles, it has to serve a large area. Staff are always very friendly, helpful and kind.”

“Not sure if this is the best forum for this, I was told to fill in a feedback form to get a response when I phoned in. Because of Fairwater closing you have removed the public lane swims for Cwmbran and Pontypool to allow the dolphins etc to do their classes. It’s not shown as that however and just says full when you try and book which is very unhelpful and means people will keep looking going on the waiting list and trying to book each week. The ladies only swim on a Wednesday is still going ahead, could this be changed to male and female to allow a fair use of the pool for both sexes? I no longer have access to the pool in the evenings and am disappointed with poor planning and no information about the changes. This could have been briefed out weeks before when I attended multiple times by the staff if they were instructed to mention it, and should be shown on your app. Please contact my email with how you are planning on addressing this.”

“A very good gym, happy and polite staff with a good variety of machinery to cater towards individual needs for those looking to Build Muscle and keep fit. However to improve Halo there’s one machine that most gyms have which halo is missing which is a Seated Row Machine. Halo covers all areas of machinery to train chest, arms, back and legs. However there’s more emphasis on chest, arms and leg development and to compliment back muscles more a Seated Row Machine would be amazing and majority of people would use it. I believe if one of these were to be invested in it would complete all elements to train back. Or even a T Bar row machine.”

“Really nice atmospher, lovely staff. Steam room a bit 'iffey' but I know thats an ongoing project. I had been a memeber before, then came back for free swimming lessons which were great. I joined again and use the gym, pool and sauna/steam reguarly. Thanks to all.”

“The staff at Halo Ynysawdre are lovely. They always have time for you and walk around with a smile. I would give it 5 out 5 but the showers have seen better days and could do with a face lift. Gym is great, and swimming pool well run.”
