About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Staff are always friendly and plenty of classes during the daytime unlike other gyms. Some areas could do with updating and would benefit from extra swimming changing cubicles but it’s a great place to go for all generations.”

“Every week I take my son to swimming lessons at Fairwater leisure centre and every week is so frustrating. Users of the pool are leaving their belongings in the changing rooms whilst they are swimming and there is never any free rooms to use. There is 1 bench in the women’s changing rooms that also gets hogged so therefore isn’t any space for changing. I am looking to go to another provider as it is shocking!”

“Maesteg swimming pools strengths are all in their employees. They are always polite and willing to help. Always on hand to keep the running of the pool , gym and health suite best as possible. They always do their best with poor facilities available. The big negative of the pool is the facilities. There are very few lockers in which to store your valuables whilst swimming. The gym needs a little up dating especially because the sports centre gym has many extra up to date machines to use. The pool as so much more to offer the community if the facilities were upgraded a touch It would attract a lot more people.”

“Ynysawdre pool is really nice to visit. 25m pool and unisex changing rooms and showers. Plenty of room, ladies swim sessions, and social swim as well as swim for fitness sessions. Lockers need a pound coin and don't always work, these could be fixed for a better experience. Best swimming pool in Bridgend area.”

“I attend Halo Pool in Hereford several times a week for various classes/gym and always get a nice welcome from the Reception team who are also very helpful with any questions. The gym equipment suits my needs well and appears clean and there are a good range of classes on offer, just wish I had time to attend more!”

“The gym was always full of children messing around and you could not get to the weights due to the children hanging around the equipment in groups. The equipment is old and I’m sorry to say it needs a refurbishment. For the cost being a member didn’t warrant it if I’m honest. The one thing I would say is that the staff are lovely and very helpful.”

“Staff all very helpful and friendly always greeted with a smile and a happy voice. Maintenance issues need sorting and rectified sooner than they have been, but at the moment there are not any so we'll done on that.”
