About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The staff are amazing. They are always polite and well informed. Classes are well planned by dedicated teachers. There are lots of different classes available and a good selection of equipment in the gym. The pool is a good size and always very clean.”

“I've been going to spin for years, and it's the only thing that has kept my wife and me as members. We turned up this morning, and they have changed the spin bikes from professional Technogym bikes costing over £2k, to spin bikes that are widely available for any home gym at £350. They were not set up; I had to sort out 5 people's bikes, as the pedal straps weren't even threaded. These bikes are designed for home use and not spin classes. All Halo have done since they have taken over is, change all the branding. This is the final straw after over a decade of being members, we are off, which is a real shame, as I would much prefer to support my home town leisure centre.”

“Review would have been higher, but having to queue and wait to sign in every time is a real pain. I don't carry a phone and the facial recognition login was great . Seems no thought is given to older members who do not carry mobile phones..”

“I am 87 years old and have attended the pool daily for many many years. It makes my day to my visit at about 7.30 am 6 days of the week. It is a friendly atmosphere and the staff are helpful. Polite and always ready to assist anyone who may struggle with health issues . May remain open forever.”
