About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“In the middle of revamping so rather unjust to assess yet. Concern for shower area, but may not be finished. The water in the pool was not immaculately clean with an apparent scum mark around the edges. Sincerely hope the changing rooms revert to male/female segregation. My wife at 91yrs was not comfortable with the existing (and hopefully temporary) arrangements. We did not like the icy blast of cold air from the ceiling vent when entering the changing room from the pool. Cannot book on line as we do not possess smart or mobile phones. Please do not forget us impoverished pensioners when swimming for us is really important health wise. The staff are lovely”

“My sessions with Teresa Butler are incredibly helpful, instructional and enjoyable and the best part of the gym. The aparatus is well kept, and the premises are generally clean and light. The only reason I've given this Halo Centre 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the absolutely revolting toilet brushes that are in the loos, full of excrement and very unhygenic. If this could be remedied I would give the place 5 stars.”

“The Gym has has gone down hill.A few months back you replaced what was top quality gym equipment with less equipment and of inferior quality. I use the gym at around 7am 5 or6 times a week and although it's not usually that busy you can't always use the equipment that you want to because they are in use.It must have cost mega bucks with money that could have been used to revamp the steam/sauna rooms which wouldn't have cost the earth.”

“The new mens changing rooms are ok but dark, lighting needs to be improved. The cubicles being dark grey doesn't help this. The new fixed head showers are very limited as you have to stand so close to the wall to use. We have deep shower with water covering only 10% of it, you hit your head on wall when showering.No mirrors as yet but I'm assured these are due shortly. Incfeased surface areas means more difficult to clean so lets see how this goes.”

“The Swimming Pool gym is a good environment for exercise but some non working machines need replacing. Staff are always courteous and friendly. The referral instructor is incredible at his job.”

“Some instructors do not give value for money as they start late and finish early. Parking can be difficult and you have to get there very early to ensure parking to attend your class.”

“The rating is to highlight the issue rather you skim over the review because it has a higher star rating. My rating would be 4 star based on swimming alone. That said i do feel in the "swim for fitness" activity you need to add more lanes. So currently you have two fast lanes roped off. Then two big double lanes for medium and slow swimmers. I thought if you added another rope in to lane 3/4 the wide medium lane you create a medium to fast lane next to the two fast lanes. This additional lane would help split out the fast lane swimmers so the lanes won't be too full. This would use up the space in lanes 3/4 more effectivily also. Other than that the pool is clean and tidy and the pool staff are friendly helpfull and always greet us with a warm smile even at 6.20 am.”
