I had to cut all but 3 of the grey balls as the hole was too small. The instructions say ‘some’ may need cutting not most. I even had to go out and buy nail scissors!

Dear Annie, Thank you for your post; I am sorry you had this experience with the cotton balls you were sent for your cable. It can happen that some balls have not been cut far enough and it appears you got these in your order. I do hope it was worth it in the end and you now have a light set you can enjoy. I did think the system for putting the lights in felt a bit clunky - it would be hard to change the balls around without permanently damaging the original ones. Delivery and customer service good though

Dear Customer, Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review - your feedback is important to us. When customers buy in store I am able to show them how to attach the balls, and it is advisable to make the desired pattern with the balls before attaching them as they are slightly easier to get on than off! If you want to change some of the colours on your cable, then the balls need careful removing should you want to re-use them again. Occasionally they can get damaged beyond repair in which case you can get replacement balls in any number via our website. Great product, and great email communication, but I wanted to talk to someone and no-one answered the phone, or answered a message left on the answering machine. Shame.

When we are busy in the shop we cannot answer the phone; we do however always go through the messages and ring or email our customers back as soon as we can. recently purchased a set of the LED lights - really disappointed to discover that the cable has a USB and no plug was provided. You should have at least offered the opportunity to purchase a plug at check-out

If you have a mobile phone charger plug this also works with the cable - some customers have spares of these already which is why it does not come with the plug automatically. Hi Claire, Thanks for the feedback and sorry you were a little disappointed. As we offer a completely customisable service where customers can choose their own bespoke set of lights from a choice of 50 colours, I'm afraid we can't pre-mount the cotton balls onto the light string. In fact, most of our customers find this element of arranging the colours and popping them onto the lights as part of the experience and rather fun. But I appreciate not every one will. Sorry that wasn't quite what you had wanted. I hope every other aspect of our service and product was up to scratch and you're enjoying your Cable & Cotton fairy lights. All the best - Anthony

Had to chase order to get delivery and half items ordered were not in stock. Would have ordered others if this info showed on website. By the time items arrived, had missed the holiday rush.

Delivery speed was good. Buuut... I was slightly irritated by the fact that the balls weren't packed as they were ordered. I ordered spare balls for am existing set, plus 2 sets of create your own, but the balls were all mixed up, not segregated into the sets. If I had not checked the boxes, and sent them on as Xmas presents (which is what they are) the recipients wouldn't have gotten the correct combinations. Also I had lots of issues with codes not working - the lady who dealt with me had tenacity! Lol. I appreciated her keeping her eye out for my emails otherwise it could have been a wholly frustrating experience. I totally love your lights though! Everybody needs a set (or 4 as we have here). Always room for more though!

Didnt realise the lights would turn up needing to be assembled, especially considering the price paid for them. Assembling them was not simple as there were a lot of inconsistencies in the openings... few had to be pressed to hard to get the LED in that they were left looking a bit less than perfect for brand new lights. :(

Hi, really sorry that you weren't 100% happy with the lights. If you'd like replacement balls to swap for any damaged ones, please get in touch with customer services at hello@cableandcotton.com and Kate will be happy to sort this out for you. Each ball is individually handmade so the slit for the light can vary slightly. Also some dye colours make the balls stiffer than others. We're making the slits a little bigger to make it a little easier to get the balls onto the light string. Lovely lights, look great...but I hadn’t realised they are self assembly. Not sure why the website lets you shuffle the colours if you then have to put them on yourself. It’s fiddly to put them on, some needed the holes cutting bigger and it took ages. With my daughter excited to see them it was disappointing to open a box full of balls and cable.

Sorry that wasn't quite what you had wanted. Each cotton ball lampshade is handmade and the slits can vary a little in size. We are ensuring that the slits are consistent and big enough for the new LED lights. Sorry if you had to enlarge a few slits yourself.
