Very large pie is very tiny! Meat doesn’t come with any cooking instructions. Customer service terrible. Be warned!

Products are good. Delivery efficient. However the sell by dates was terrible. Very disappointed and I had to waste most of my order.

The Tattie scones are sweet and disgusting. Must have been made with sweet potatoes.

We wrote to West Coast Foods on 14 February 2021 but have had no reply, which further increases our disappointment. If our opinion matters, as this review request from West Coast food states, then please could we have a reply to our email of 14 Feb, which is reproduced below. (We also sent a reminder but this has been ignored, as well.) "Ben Callaghan Attachments...photos Sun, 14 Feb, 16:25 (4 days ago) Dear West Coast Foods, Thank you for the delivery of our recent order. Sadly, we are very disappointed with the Ayrshire Middle bacon. Your website states, regarding your Ayrshire middle bacon, 1..."All of our Scottish bacon is cured in Ayrshire of Scottish pork. Sold rindless, our bacon is proper bacon that doesn't evaporate in the pan or leave a white trail as it cooks." Please find attached three photos. One shows that a white residue oozed out of the bacon as it was being fried, contrary to what we were led to believe. It was VERY wet, soggy bacon, as it was taken out of the packet, dripping with water. The list of ingredients indicates that it has "added water. (In fact it states that the Pork content is only 87%, with water coming as the next item in the list of ingredients.) It says this, too, regarding the packaging, 2... "Carefully Vacuum packed by our team for freshness." If you vacuum-packed the bacon, why does the pack say "John Robertson and Sons, Ardrossan? I would also like to know why there were blue labels on the packaging that had had the information/writing on them scratched off, to render them illegible. Please could we have an explanation for this? Your website advises that, 3..."For us, it's all about quality and service. We bring the finest local Scottish meat and prepare it all in-house." Your bacon seems to originate from a different company. My Scottish husband was really looking forward to a wonderful breakfast treat, but the bacon was awful. We wish we had never bought it. Please could we have your comments on this as we are unhappy."

Pies arrived crushed. Food with no date on ( label removed before sending) and no reply to 3 emails to ask West coast foods to rectify. Bad experience after years of being a customer. Will not be using this company again.

Having made two phone calls and an email to check their skinny Xmas pack was gluten free, I ordered it. The day it arrived I was concerned sausage and stuffing not labelled gluten free. As two coeliacs having the food, this was very important. Called and was told it was not gluten free. I advised I had asked several times and been told it was. I was left out of pocket - on 28th dec, I’ve yet to receive the promised refund - and having to source gluten free stuffing and sausage from elsewhere At eleventh hour. No apologies and tone of call was it was my fault food was not gluten free. Their website states ‘all the skin I range is gluten free’. Also I was charged £5.95 for delivery and website states orders over £75 free delivery and my order was £82. So unimpressed and will not sue this company again.

Our Christmas was ruined by the absolutely dreadful lamb joint, meant for out Christmas Day dinner. I have been cooking, home and professionally for nearly 50 yrs. The order was delivered with box intact, however the sausage meat tube was split at one end and the contents squeezed out onto the other meat packets. The ice packs were partially defrosted and slushy. The meat was not cold enough, and the outside of the plastic wrappings on the meat were greasy and messy and it all smelt. The information on each item was almost non existent, with no origin, cooking instructions, no company name, nothing, and the print had rubbed off on the lamb packet. The lamb was UNDOUBTEDLY halal. There was no blood, it was a poor colour and worse still (as with halal meat from experience of supermarket meat), IT DOESN'T COOK WELL. The lamb joint smelt the whole kitchen out with an unpleasant odour, no off, just unpleasant and not the normal lamb cooking smell. I was already doubtful about this meat, but had no alternative for our special meal. All the vegetables were ready for it. As I have cooked uncounted meat joints before over the years and am an experience cook, correct timing and basting as usual, the joint should have been tender and juicy, smelling great and looking good when it came out of the oven - IT WAS AWFUL. Tough, dry and unappetising in the extreme, I could not risk us eating it. Our dog loves lamb, HE WOULD NOT TOUCH IT. So the whole thing went in the rubbish bin. Now doubtful about anything from this "butcher" I threw the pigs in blankets away unopened, the rest of the order will follow suit from the freezer. I cannot trust this meat. Time and money thrown away and no special Christmas dinner for us. We ended up with Waitrose sausages. I will never buy anything from this company again. The source of the meat is not disclosed on the packaging, their advertising is misleading and possibly untrue regarding sources. I may as well have gone to Sainsburys and had their scandalous halal Seven Sisters meat. Very angry and absolutely disgusted at being duped and cheated with this inferior produce. I was tempted to take that "lamb" joint to the Environmental Dept of my local council with a complaint and for investigation. I may still do so with the meat left in my freezer, for an answer to what exactly it was I paid for and received. Disgraceful.

Delivery was on time as promised, bacon, pudding was good, £65 rib roast couldn't be eaten it was so tough, cooked the same way we cook all our rib roasts, same time for weight, all others from elsewhere have been great but on Christmas our rib roast from WCF was a big let down and got wasted as couldn't eat it, it was too expensive a piece of meat to have been like this.

The mince was grey even after opening although did get refund. Larne sausage a little grey around the edges and the box delivered in was not cold inside when it arrived. I think the meat was sitting warm during delivery. The steak pie was not complete which I paid for - should have stated in both the price and the description that it was make your own. I paid for a complete pie and didn't get it. Unfortunately I won't be using again or recommending to anyone though the customer service team were good.

Hi Michael, sorry again about this. We refunded the eggs and resent the steakpie along with a discount code for future orders. It was a lesson for us and we have now improved the packaging off eggs and our steak pies. Please let us know if this issue has been resolved to your satisfaction. Sorry again.

Placed an order online and when I received the order it wasn't packed in anything but thankfully I was in. In my order there was 2 packs of chicken which smelt absolutely horrendous! I called and spoke to someone who said they would pass the message on and get someone to call me. I'm still waiting!
