Bit brutal when they shaved my dogs neck to take blood. She was bleeding after the shaving and I felt this was unnecessary since it wasn't a life or death emergency.

Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear you found this distressing. As part of our standard diagnostic tests, it's necessary to do a blood test to ensure we can rule out common emergency conditions which might not be immediately obvious. In order to do this we need to take the blood from the most prominent vein in the neck, and to do this we need to shave the area. I'm sorry if you felt this was unnecessary. Kind regards - Kirsty

The vet was fantastic but this is a way to expensive experience for me. I paid £360 and then wanted a further £250 to keep my dog in which I could not afford as already spent my weeks wages! Not all of us have a lot of money. The consultation alone was £140. I work all night and don’t get that amount as a carer I get half! It does put you off taking your pet and can understand why people don’t however much they want to look after the welfare of their animal. I won’t do it again

Hi there, I'm really sorry you feel this way. It's true that out-of-hours prices can be expensive, which is why we always encourage a comprehensive level of pet insurance. We've written an article all about how your fee is spent which you might find gives some clarity: https://goo.gl/XV3Eqw - Kind regards, Kirsty

I think the vets give good emergency treatment but saddend me how much extra they charged for emergency almost 100% mark up over the estimate I was given from my own vet practice which was going to be given folliwing day but due to circumstance never worked out that way and at a stressful time thought the stress of finding a extra £650 was just holding to ransom people with sick pets I understand there needs to be extra cost to out of hours treatment but not that much and with being long term sick with no kind of benifits thus not in line for pdsa help was a real financial battle to,scrap money together

Couldn’t fault the service my little guy got, he is a very nervous bunny and after a 15min car journey he was stressed, they let me take him into a room to help relieve some stress, never seen him so petrified but staff were fantastic, only reason I am not giving a higher review is because it is very expensive, £140 before any medication, i was over a barrel with the cost as my Wee guy had to be seen

They were able to see me quickly out of hours, they were incredibly friendly and explained everything to me clearly. It is very expensive though!

Really lovely and caring staff but was disappointed that they only had Snowy for two hours then put her to sleep. Perhaps she couldve been checked more regularly. Also was not given a diagnosis of what likely caused it and the body was not cleaned up before being returned to us for burial. Thought the charge of keeping her in all night was slightly unfair considering. However I am glad she was kept comfortable.

You mean UNHAPPY? The number to call didn’t work properly. We had to try numerous times to get through. The waiting area and the consulting room floor were covered in blood. The vet had to call Edinburgh zoo for advice and what she was given was WRONG!!! We eventually had to have my bearded dragon put to sleep as there was nothing we could do to save him. I asked if I could be with him and was told no, because she had to pass a needle up through the roof of his mouth and into his brain to ensure he was dead. I REALLY didn’t need to know this and it could easily have been done after I had been told he’d passed away, allowing me to hold him while he died. Sorry, but I was not at all impressed with the service given.

Was seen promptly.Reception Staff helpful. The only regret is that vet scanned abdo when a scan/xray of neck/shoulder would have diagnosed trapped nerve as he presented wi neck stiffness.my vet did this straight away n prescribed Gabapentin along wi metacam as he was in a lot of discomfort which could hav been alleviated sooner by Vet Now.

Hi Helen, so sorry you don't feel we could help. In some cases the best care is to wait and see how a situation develops. Not all cases which are brought in to see us require emergency or critical care treatment, and in these cases the best thing to do is to wait until the symptoms either disappear or become such that treatment is required. Thanks for your feedback - Kirsty
