When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Easy to use website, good to have choices in level of cover. We were happy that they cover one way travel at no extra cost as we struggled to find a UK insurer to cover our trip home through the USA when we weren't returning to the UK. Reasonable price. Can't give 5 stars as haven't had to claim yet.”

“i had a policy with True Traveller which i took out in January 2020, before the outbreak of Covid-19. whilst i was away my family back home contacted true traveller for advice about the best way forward for my travels and how to get home. they were amazing and provided my family with reassurance as well as providing information which massively impacted what i should do. additionally, their website is laid out simply and effectively which made it very easy to find out information. the only thing that i would highlight is that it seems to be alot harder to claim money back if you DONT have a plus insurance which unfortunately i did not take out but i would have if this was made clear to me when i was advised which policy to take out. other than that, my experience with TT has been positive and i would recommend.”

“The coverage seems to be alright when looking through the activities covered and the terms and conditions. It is great that the coverage can be customized depending on ones needs, that is really great. I used true traveller for a year while I stayed in Canada. However I did not need any medical assistance so I cannot say how well it all works out once one has to file a claim, but I believe that with Allianz in the background as a large insurance company all should be fine as its a solid insurer in the background.”

“It is easy to buy and has good policy options. The live chat works well, but only during the UK working hours. If you are in a different time zone, you probably have to send an e-mail. Luckily so far, my trips have gone well, so I can't say anything about getting your money back for something.”

“True traveller is simple and easy to use. Tailoring the sort of insurance I needed and adding on any extras was uncomplicated and stress free. It was also very quick! Highly recommend for two year worldwide cover as this is something that not many travel agencies/insurers offer.”

“Almost the cheapest for the service and guarantees provided, including the inclusion, with a reasonable extra fee, of a health pre-existing condition I have. So, I'm really satisfied. I don't like the fact that claims must be done by phone only. I'd found more practical an online form, as other insurances do. Moreover, I guess that not English speakers would find hard to manage claims over the phone with English speaking operators.”

“Sometimes their premiums are more expensive than other companies but I like that you can purchase insurance while you are travelling which takes a lot of worry off my mind. The one claim experience I had with them was very smooth and was sorted very quickly so I was impressed with that.”

“Fantastic website, very well laid out with loads of info and advice about travelling and insurance, it covers pretty much everything. I was pleased to find out that they provide cover for 2 years, which is ideal for us! Fortunately haven't had to make a claim yet. Personally I would like to be able to increase the value of individual valuables (such as my full suspension mountain bike) to more than £450”

“I did tonnes of thorough research on travel insurance to meet the needs of my 2 year working holiday visa in Canada and honestly nothing comes close to this. Easily the most comprehensive coverage available for long stays, and other provider offering better prices has such small levels of coverage it'd be a nightmare if a claim was ever needed. Only reason they don't get 5 stars is I haven't had to claim yet, thankfully, but countless online reviews tell me this should be stress-free if I ever do have to!”

“I like true traveller as it's very user friendly, the policies are explained well in each section so you can choose exactly what you are looking for, we wanted to insure a laptop phone and go pro which was easily added, also we like sports activities such as surfing/ rock climbing and trekking so really wanted to make sure these were covered, which they are in the adventure pack. The sports are all listed so you can easily see if your sport is covered. I also called up twice to ask questions of mopeds abroad and renewing travel insurance - all which were answered very quickly and explained very well. Would definitely recommend to a friend!”
