True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“It is too difficult to contact you in case of urgency. Very few tourists can call from other country without problems. Why don't you give the possibility to contact you with WhatsApp or email like other insurance companies? In this way you also give the possibility to avoid misunderstandings and to facilitate the translation for who does not speak English well. It is a big point to your disadvantage for you! In this way you lose 50% of yours customers for me. And the price is too much expensive . Perhaps not for the average English salary, but for the average salary of other nations it is. Thank you! Hi there For emergencies, WhatsApp cannot be used. In the same way, you can’t call the police or an ambulance via WhatsApp. This is because WhatsApp is a peer-to-peer messaging system designed for communication between individuals, not as a business or emergency service. No insurance or medical emergency providers accept emergency calls through WhatsApp. None. At The True Traveller, we use WhatsApp for messages only. Even then, it is not suitable for sharing confidential medical information, as WhatsApp processes message-related data for advertising purposes. The True Traveller and AXA Assistance do accept emails; however, email is also not appropriate for emergencies. It’s also important to remember that WhatsApp only works when you have access to Wi-Fi or mobile data. If you don’t have a connection, it won’t work at all. Hospitals worldwide will always have access to a phone — and we cover the cost of those calls. The True Traveller Team

“It was the best price on offer, for a four month trip and being plus being 60+ years of age. That said it is still far to expensive and I did consider going without any insureance. The cost of this travel insurance is equal to the cost of my return flight too Vancouver from London England.”

We understand that the overall cost can still feel high, particularly for longer trips and travellers aged 60+. However, insurance often only truly shows its value if you need to make a claim, when the potential costs of medical treatment or repatriation can far outweigh the price of the policy, particularly in North America. As part of a claim, we also cover the cost of these calls. In the coming days, you’ll additionally be able to contact AXA directly through your Digital Wallet, provided you have 4G or Wi-Fi access. “I had to see a doctor urgently in Indonesia due to an acute illness. After I recovered, TrueTraveller approved the claim within 1 hour of submitting the necessary documents for the insurance and refunded the full medical costs to my bank account within another 2 hours. “I can't really give a 5 star rating yet, as I have literally only just purchased this insurance, but the ease of obtaining a quote, seeing what level of cover is being offered, understanding the options etc. was 5 star. I rang the helpdesk and got through really swiftly and spoke to a fabulously competent and knowledgeable person the other end so again this was 5 star. I hope I don't have to claim, but if I do I will update this review and rate the claims process. Thank you so far so good. :)”

“This is the second time I took out an insurance with true traveller and this time unfortunately I had to claim due to medical reasons and being unfit to fly. Rron the agent assigned to my claim was so helpful. Within 5 days and after submitting the necessary documentation my claim was accepted and passed for payment. “I had to submit a claim to True Traveller regarding a stolen passport and from submitting my claim to review and approval, I am satisfied with how the process was conducted. The claims agent assigned to me was timely with updates and provided clear answers to the my questions. I had to file the claim during the last week of December and even with the holidays, felt it was done in a quite fast manner. Highly recommend and would take out another policy with True Traveller.”
