When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“The staff here are very friendly and knowledgable, the insurance covers a lot of things that would normally be tricky to find cover for and when I claimed for a delayed service causing me to miss my train home, it was approved and paid in to my account in a matter of days. Amazing service, will be my port of call from now on.”

“Cost of 1 week extension was extortionate. The cost for extending by 1 week was 30% of the original premium paid. This wasn’t explained when I asked about extending it at the time of purchasing the policy.”

Hi there Almost all travel insurers won't let you take out extra cover when you're already abroad, but we do. We show our FAQs how it is applied: "Can I take out another policy whilst I'm still travelling? Yes. If you’re not entirely sure how long you’ll be away, you can, for example, take a policy for three months, and then take out an extension policy for a further two months, giving you a total duration of five-months. The cost of an extension policy will be the regular cost for the new period of insurance, less 10%. Note however you only get the discount if your new period of cover is equal to or less than your current policy. In common with most forms of insurance, the longer the contract is for, the lower the daily rate becomes. So, one five-month policy will be cheaper than a three-month policy, followed by another two-month policy. So do take this into consideration when choosing the length of your policy. Please go to our Extend your Insurance page for further information. Note if your insurance has expired already, we cannot do this, and you will have to purchase a new policy." As we say one long policy is always better value than shorter, separate policies. True Traveller

“I took out my first ever policy with True Traveller to cover a trip to Latin America. Unfortunately my husband had a medical emergency whilst we were over there. On our return home, I placed a claim on our policy to cover the medical expenses we incurred. This was settled in less than a week. We found True Traveller to be transparent and reliable. “I had an overall positive experience with true traveller. my pre-paid claims were processed quickly, which i was grateful for. with more complicated procedures my experience was somewhat different. i had to spend a lot of time chasing up emails, requests and payments. i found myself in a situation were i was playing the middle man between the hospital, local agents and TT representatives, and as you can possibly imagine, when you're in an emergency situation, and in a lot of pain, it adds to the stress and discomfort. add to that a rather unpleasant way i was treated in by one of your representatives (all other ones were wonderful thank you) and it's easy to find oneself in a heap, crying somewhere in a corner at the unkindness received where comapssion would have been more appopriate. perhaps some empathy and telephone manner training would help. otherwise all good, thank you for your support in this stressful time.”

“It was easy to book my travel insurance (they handle late bookings too as we arrived on our ski holiday I realised we had no insurance and booked it quickly with True Traveller, no drama!) A few days later my husband broke his ankle and when we got home it was quick and easy to do a claim with them. It was handled swiftly and within a couple of weeks they had paid out our claim.
