When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Fantastic service — rang to clarify some things and the person I spoke to was very informative and helpful. As my policy has only just begun I can only review the very first stage of the insurance, so I can't say anything about claims procedures etc.”

“Excellent options for adventure/extreme sport cover at resort able prices. Easy to use website with clear options. Would be 5 stars but some technical glitches with mobile site meant had to fill in details a few times. Let's hope if need to claim assistance is as good as the purchase experience”

“Second time using True Traveller, easy process to sign up and cover was a lot clearer and easier to understand than other policies I looked at. Rated 4 stars as never had to make a claim so can't comment on that side of things.”

“To be honest, I cannot comment too much on the review as I haven't had the luxury of using the insurance yet (luckily). However the process was very smooth, everything has been very clear, and even on the insurance document you get with it has a simple and easy instruction showing you what to do if you ever need them-which is great!! For the moment, I will definitely be recommending this to others, as the price is not too much more expensive than other good insurers, and I am told you get what you pay for!”

“I have only just taken out the insurance so haven’t had to claim and can’t comment on that process. But the layout of the policies and information provided is much easier to understand than other providers. There is good inclusion in the standard / mid-range policies.”

“Even though the policy doesn’t cover any illness related to COVID-19. It was great to be able to get insurance to cover emergencies when my trip got extended due to travel distruptions. And I got a timely reply to any email checking up on questions. Great service”

“The price is good and the coverage as well. It's just not very ethical to ask for reviews from people as soon as they book their insurance. I mean how can it be a "bad experience". The real question is whether I can count on them while suffering from some horrible illness in the middle of nowhere. Until then, the "experience" is great, but useless as a guide for others on whether this insurance is good or not. Why write a review then,you might ask? They offer a chance to get the insurance reimbursed for writing a review. A bit cheeky, but if I win I'll definitely upgrade to 5 stars. Jokes aside, the phone assistance was helpful and it was easy to book the insurance. Hopefully I'll never have to find out how well the coverage works. I do like the option of being able to book while already traveling and the no nonsense about having a "return ticket".”

“I've only bought insurance, not made a claim. Make sure you read a review from someone who's claimed, because that's when it matters! The buying processes seems easy enough, and the list of stuff that's covered looks fairly complete. I had to pick upgrades to cover my planned sports (climbing and skiing) and note that there's no search and rescue cover in the value bundle.”
