When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“I have been covered by TrueTraveller for the last 12 months and recently extended my policy. When I first booked my travel insurance, I was impressed by the TrueTraveller website - it’s very user-friendly, clear and informative. Each item included in the policy is explained in detail on the main page, rather than having to trawl through a policy handbook! The Policy documents came through immediately via email and were easy to understand. I have had to make one claim, which hasn’t yet been fully sorted out so I cannot yet rate the entire process - however, I found the claims website a little slow and it’s not very user/mobile-friendly. The Accident Questionnaire they required me to fill out was also unavailable to download for a while, which slowed the application process. When I contacted the claims company directly by phone, they were swift and helpful although it’s a shame they don’t have a 24h contact line (check UK office hours before calling). I have just renewed my policy for a another few months and was impressed by the discount I got on the overall price - I booked before my current policy expired! It was just as easy to extend and it was great to be able to again choose what benefits/activities I needed to be covered (as my needs are different to last year). Overall, a very good experience with TrueTraveller and I would recommend them for the overall ease of use.”

“So I can only rate it from the experience of buying the insurance since I haven't made a claim and hopefully won't need to.Very friendly and helpful staff when I called up and asked about the insurance and different options...I really appretiate the flexibility, that you can buy it when you're already travelling... and if you're travelling one way etc etc...that it meets different needs...and not just the mainstream traveller...and it was the cheapest one around wich is a big plus of course...”

“Travel insurance was easy to book online. One of the only few companies that allow booking of travel insurance when already abroad. Very helpful and provides peace of mind. Lots of customisable options so you only pay for what you need. Unfortunately the policies are quite expensive when you have pre-existing medical conditions. Wish there were more affordable options for this. I can’t comment on the claims process.”

“As an avid traveller, it was a relief to find True Traveller insurance. The majority of insurance providers specify that you have to have been in the UK for at least 3-6 months before taking out the insurance, but due to my lifestyle, I don't come back home for that long. Luckily, True Traveller only require that you are a resident! Relatively good value for money, but costs quite a lot to add on the different adventure packs. I'm yet to find out what their customer service is like (hopefully I won't need it), but my overall impressions so far are good.”

“Good and reliable insurance company. Quick replies by email and good phone assistance when needed. Bought a True Traveller insurance for me and my friend for a long trip in Asia of several months. My friend had an issue and claimed a small amount which was provided also thanks to help of a kind local assistant in Iran. The only kinda negative point: it took quite a while to get the refund (several months).”

“Excellent options for adventure/extreme sport cover at resort able prices. Easy to use website with clear options. Would be 5 stars but some technical glitches with mobile site meant had to fill in details a few times. Let's hope if need to claim assistance is as good as the purchase experience”

“To be honest, I cannot comment too much on the review as I haven't had the luxury of using the insurance yet (luckily). However the process was very smooth, everything has been very clear, and even on the insurance document you get with it has a simple and easy instruction showing you what to do if you ever need them-which is great!! For the moment, I will definitely be recommending this to others, as the price is not too much more expensive than other good insurers, and I am told you get what you pay for!”

“Even though the policy doesn’t cover any illness related to COVID-19. It was great to be able to get insurance to cover emergencies when my trip got extended due to travel distruptions. And I got a timely reply to any email checking up on questions. Great service”
