About True Traveller:

True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

Easy to use website and very helpful if your insurance runs out and you need to renew when already overseas! Obviously haven't claimed but hope they would be good on that side too.

I can't really give a 5 star rating yet, as I have literally only just purchased this insurance, but the ease of obtaining a quote, seeing what level of cover is being offered, understanding the options etc. was 5 star. I rang the helpdesk and got through really swiftly and spoke to a fabulously competent and knowledgeable person the other end so again this was 5 star. I hope I don't have to claim, but if I do I will update this review and rate the claims process. Thank you so far so good. :)

I've taken out insurance for the Annapurna Base Camp trek. The process has been excellent so far, but I'm yet to travel, so I'm not able to give the full 5 stars. I'd like to think that the claim process is the same! I'm obviously hoping I don't need it.

Really easy to get a quote, really flexible (eg already travelling, and reasonable quote... Good support when I needed to use WhatsApp However... 2 things not quite good enough I paid extra to cover baggage, money, docs etc but there is no emergency number given if all lost/stolen The other... Airalo e-SIMS... Nice to get the discount but they are a terrible service. The app looks good but malfunctioning and the support is horrendous

Very good so far in terms of obtaining a policy with good coverage, though have not claimed and hope not to, so can’t comment on how well that works.

Overall a good and quick experience and supportive dealing with a complex curtailment case. I spoke to a few different staff members and Stefan was by far the most helpful and my case was quickly resolved to a level I was happy with once he stepped in

I can't say much yet, I just bought it and that proces went smooth. I give it a 2 star for now for the follow up email telling me that the only way of contacting True Traveller (in case of accident or insurance claim) is by calling a UK number, with no other option. On top of that advising us to take a digital sim with a monthly subscription. That's not very client friendly, having probably most of your clients around the world. Nowadays with so many options and so much technology, putting that responsibility in your clients hands is a bit much. So a 2 star for lack of trying Update: I was a bit harsh, and I like the professional response to my message. Also the insurance conditions are good compared to other insurances (with always the nuances and "small prints" as in any insurance policy). For calling the UK office, and I hope I will never have to, I will use Skype. Not sure what the security reasoning would be there, but I also don't care. I've updated my previous 2 stars to 4 stars

Hi there Sorry you feel that way, but for emergency assistance you must call AXA Assistance on a regular number. They cannot, in common with all medical assistance services, accept calls on WhatsApp as it is not 100% secure. For other claims, you do that all online, and you can contact the sales team by live chat and WhatsApp. We do suggest people use esims, and have arranged a 20% discount in Airalo. Do also note we pay for any calls you make or receive from AXA Assistance if you incur charged. If you’re not happy, you excercise your cooling off rights and cancel and receive a full refund if you wish. True Traveller

Although I have sent several documents from the begining of the claim, Rron was not understanding the exact ammount I have paid for the trip. but later it was settled. But apart from this problem, the communication was very efficient and also the payment. Thanks and I have already recommended this insurance to my family and friends.

I found the sales process smooth with all the information required to make an informed decision. Being pre-approved for medical conditions with a small additional premium was a huge benefit compared to a big competitor. I've not needed to claim, so I can't comment on the most important part of the customer service.

Booked on line, then thought I'd made an error and bought a policy that excluded Mexico - which is where the cover was needed, so rang the customer service line. Responded quickly and reassured that all was correct. Very helpful.

Really really clear, easy to navigate, simple and at a very competitive price providing various options. Haven’t given a 5”* as haven’t (thankfully) made a claim yet.

Pro: cheapest travel insurance company I've ever seen. Cons: it's difficult to contact the staff in case of claim (no platform via internet connection), and only English language assistance...

i was really struggling to find insurance thay clearly showed what altitude i could climb up to for climbing kilimanjaro. many woukd advertise extreme sports or hiking and then cut you off at 4000m, for these guys it was a nice website and displayed clearly....now lets hope i dont have to use it! i also booked ski insurance and excess hire car for any future trips i do next year. Cant comment aboht value as i am new to belgium and i currently feel like im being ripped off by everything i try to do in this country!

The service is pretty good, contracting is easy and startightforward (albeit with a big technical flaw - see below). I also had a claim once and it was also a pretty simple process: registering the claim, approval and payment were all quite fast. The one thing I really find annoying is that when you buy the insurance you can't submit the form when you are on VPN (which I use almost constantly because of work). Which is understandable, but they don't tell you this upon opening the page, but only after you entered all your details, and when you disconnect from the VPN and reload the page all entered the data is lost. There is a "save form" available, but it only saves the selected products, not the data that you entered in the form. For me, that was very annoying as I had to fill out all the details three separate times. I really wish they saved all data entered in the form when saving it....

I had an overall positive experience with true traveller. my pre-paid claims were processed quickly, which i was grateful for. with more complicated procedures my experience was somewhat different. i had to spend a lot of time chasing up emails, requests and payments. i found myself in a situation were i was playing the middle man between the hospital, local agents and TT representatives, and as you can possibly imagine, when you're in an emergency situation, and in a lot of pain, it adds to the stress and discomfort. add to that a rather unpleasant way i was treated in by one of your representatives (all other ones were wonderful thank you) and it's easy to find oneself in a heap, crying somewhere in a corner at the unkindness received where comapssion would have been more appopriate. perhaps some empathy and telephone manner training would help. otherwise all good, thank you for your support in this stressful time.
