True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Booked online. Real easy to find the insurance l required. Very easy process to follow through to check out. And a reasonably competitive price! l have not had to make a claim yet and l don't know how easy this will be. That's why the 4 stars. Otherwise 5.”

“The real test of a good Insurer is how they help you if you ever need to make a claim. However, if they are as good as they have been so far (we've been with them for a year on a gap year-type trip through Australia & New Zealand) haven't made any claims yet), especially in my phone enquiries with them (Thank you Stefan), then I am reassured. I like that they cover a wide & selectable range of adventurous activities across the world & that can include coverage for backpacker-type work (e.g. hospitality, adventure sports guiding/instructing, etc.). Also, the policy application process was pretty clear & easy to step through. The actual policy documents/small print are also clear - clearer than most, & should be checked through. I have set up Annual Single & Multi-trip policies with high levels of adventure sports coverage for 2 members of my family &, on the basis of what I have seen so far, I would recommend TrueTraveller as a good option to my wider family & friends.”

“I needed long-term travel insurance and my usual well know provider quoted a price that seemed high. So I decided to Google other companies to check if what I'd been quoted, was competitive. I discovered True Traveller and their price was over £200 cheaper for a similar cover. So, on the whole, I'm pleased with my choice to go with TT. Things they could improve on is the quoting process. I wanted to edit an existing quote but their system does not allow this and you have to start a new quote meaning you have to put your information in all over again. Also, while they have provided a good premium price, I have no experience with their claims process, let's hope they are fair and a highly customer-friendly company.”

Dear Mr Woods Thanks for your review. Normally single trip quotes can be edited by clicking on the "edit" button on the results page, but when customers have already completed a medical declaration, then this cannot be done, as additional premiums for medical conditions, if any, are based on the destination and duration of the policy. “Easy to book online with clear information as to which level of cover is required for any activity. Simple to arrange cover for pre existing medical conditions. Most importantly, paid promtly (5 days from submission of documented claim) for a cancellation due to medical reasons. A little bit complicated to complete and submit the documents and evidence online for the IT novice. Claim form is PDF and consequently a nuisance to edit.”
