“Really polite, friendly staff. A pleasure to deal with. Products came as ordered. No issues delivering to my address, which can be complicated as it’s across a railway line. A word of warning though. Plan well in advance, as orders can take between 3-5 working days to process.”

We have literally list 1000's of products and to always have the right amount of stock available whenever required is just not possible. We quote 3-5 days as we can usually get any out-of-stock items dispatched within this timescale. Many, many orders are received and dispatched the same day, if we promised next-day delivery we would have more disappointed customers. “I bought some cuprinol shades Iris paint in a 1ltr can from B&Q to try out, couldn't get a tester pot for love nor money, tried it and decided it was the shade I liked and then tried to order some 5ltr cans as I had 22 6Ft panels to paint. Then discovered after searching everywhere and finally contacting cuprinol that they don't do it in 5ltrs only 1ltr! Not very helpful why not say this on the can! Long story etc - thank goodness for Tools-Paint who could mix me up the colour in 2.5ltr cans. Delivery was good, packaged very well and securely and paint seems fine. I say seems because I opened a can and painted some of the fencing and it looked great, however yesterday I went out to continue and opened the can and as I was painting realised it is slightly lighter now which is strange, same can. I am hoping that maybe as it dries it gets darker, I will have to see. Overall happy, I did contact Tools-paint to ask if they did a 5ltr size but they didn't ever reply so I assume not.”

Hi Diane, thank you so much for taking the trouble to review tools-paint.com in so much depth. I would like to answer the questions raised. • Unfortunately the largest tin size we can produce in this colour is 2.5ltr. Cuprinol colours are made for a number of “bases”, “bases” are like the name suggests the base material to which tints are added to get the desired shade, pastel bases for some shades, deep bases for others etc. Certain bases are available in 1ltr, 2.5ltr and 5ltr, the base used for “Iris” is only available in 1ltr and 2.5ltr, I am sorry to report. • The paint appears “lighter” than when originally opened. Sorry to question this, “had you stirred the paint”? This is a common action that is overlooked, the paint will need to be stirred with a paddle ideally, or a ruler, something that is wide and mixes the paint. Any paint needs to be agitated, “stirred”, really should read “mix paint well”, stirring alone will not mix the pigment at the bottom with the base material at the top of the tin (round and round and up and down). If a stick, cane or screw-driver is used it will not disperse the pigment thoroughly into the paint base. The appearance of paint in a tin when mixed and when first applied will appear lighter than the final cured colour, paint does dry darker generally speaking. I hope that this puts your mind at rest and please accept my apologies if these actions had been taken Finally a big apology for any unanswered emails you sent referencing a 5ltr can. We do try and respond to all emails/questions, I am sorry if this was missed.

“I had a problem with paint tins that were damaged in transit. It was easy to deal with the team to get a replacement tin. I did not need to return the damaged tin, it would have been difficult anyway due to the broken lid.”

I am sorry that the original delivery was damaged, obviously as soon as we put a parcel in the hands of a carrier we have no control of it in terms of accidental damage. “I order some specialist paint galvatron which can be very expensive but I need it for my anchor on my yacht. Tools-paint had the product at a good price only grumble was the delivery cost to the Isle of Wight anybody would think we are the other side of the world!!!! Other than that good service.”

The original Galvafroid has an excellent reputation but beware of cheap imitations! Unfortunately ParcelForce levies a surcharge on Isle of Wight postcodes so this is out of our control. Sorry.

“Follow-up: Since posting my review Scott from tools-paint called and offered some very helpful advice about returns. More than happy to rescind my earlier comments and refer any future would-be complainants to contact them by phone. Very polite, helpful and understanding. --- Purchased from the site and accidently Purchased a product from the site that turned out to not be what I thought. My fault entirely but I got in touch a few times to enquire about refund/exchange and have heard nothing back. Also, the tin of paint was shipped without any other packaging - which is fine and I can see the efficiency and cost saving implication. However, the tin has been kicked to high heaven in transit, dinted and misshapen.”
