I've always wear shoes with a size of 41 (with french référence). The thomas bird shoes were too big. Is it possible to send it back for a replacement ?

I googled best penny loafers and this company popped up. I usually stick with Ferragamo and Gucci for work shoes but wanted to try something different. I paid additional for 2 day shipping but it took about a week to get the two pairs that I ordered not including the 3 days that they sat at UPS because they required a signature for drop off. Why? The cost of both pairs were a little more than 1/3 the cost of Gucci loafers and they just drop them at the door. All in all the shoe seems to be decent but the color on one pair was a little different than what I expected. I should’ve returned them immediately but my anger fades quickly and who has time to waste waiting a week to see if they actually made it. Not me! Very doubtful that I will support the Bird regime in the future

Sorry to hear UPS tried 3 times and weren't able to reach you. We tend to ship all shoes with a 'signature required' given the value of the items. In future, I'd be more than happy to state on the parcel label that they can be left in a safe place. Sorry to hear the colour of the shoes weren't to your expecations. We try to photograph actual stock in various light conditions to best represent the true tone and colour. I'll review the product with studio images again and check everything is ok as we haven't had any issues with any of the loafers in recent months. Many thanks, Stuart.

Boot did not fit. Could not put my foot in. Samantha was just ok in help with returning boot. I wanted FedEx. Instead of future discount refund my shipping cost.

Good evening James, sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with your purchase & return experience with Thomas Bird. We don't offer a free global collections service, but if you wanted to exchange them we offer free collection & re-delivery. Returns for refund are subsidised but cost £30. We typically use DHL for returns as they offer us the most competitve rate. Unfortunately we don't have an account with FedEx so was unable to offer this option.

Terrible service. Shoe is clearly used. Has creases on top. The sole is DIRTY. Its is clearly used. Also it runs large. I feel returning the shoe is risky because when I read their return policy I see these are the very reasons they can refuse a return for! They state if they see the shoe has been used, they will not accept the return. BUT YOU SENT ME A USED SHOW IN THE FIRST PLACE!! Will never use Thomas Bird again. What a waste of money!

Clearly something has gone wrong here. The soles in particular should be 100% completely unworn of course. The shoes are not red, but an almost black color. The fit is extremely different size wise from another shoe of this brand. Additionally, returns are really hard and took a bit of time, driving and more effort than other brands. For such an expensive shoe I expected a much different product and experience. I would not order from this brand again.

We have several colours which are of a reddy nature (oxblood, oxblood patina, conker and chestnut) so perhaps there is some confusion there? Great shoes but sadly I did not like the fit and can't return them as I have already worn them. I do have other boots with better fit quality.

Good evening Stanley, sorry about that. Yes, unfortunately in order to get a full refund, we require the boots back in an unworn condition. Sadly once they've been taken outside the soles mark up and we can't resell the boots. Dear Timothy, We have some jars of shoe cream available but we don't send them as standard with our shoes and boots. Did you read differently somewhere? If so I'll look into making it clearer. Worst company I have ever bought from and terrible customer service.i paid for a return since last week on the same day my shoe was delivered and have not received any slip and you guys sent a ups personal here and she could not take the product. i need this resolved asap so i can get my money back

This is the 3rd pair that I have bought. The sole inside the shoe has come unglued. I have given it to the shoe repair shop to have it glued back on. Disappointed.

The leather socks are only spot glued as some of our customers like to remove them to insert their own custom insoles. Very poor customer service had 3 pairs no issues before. Most recent pair purchased in May have torn on top leather and all they are willing to do is sell me another pair for half retail price. Very poor will never buy from them again. You get what you pay for will stick with big name brands in future!

We always try to help customers where we can and we can see there is a manufacturing defect. In this case when we inspected the customers shoes, we felt they were badly worn, the heels were worn down through the rubbers into the leather heel so couldn't be easily repaired. It's always important to replace worn heel rubbers before further damage is caused. We offered a brand new pair at half price as a gesture but sadly this was not accepted. Our reviews are important and mostly positive which we will strive to maintain.

These shoes have lasted only 3 months before two holes have appeared in the sole of the right shoe. Very poor and very disappointed.

The all leather soled dress shoes we offer are reasonably hardy, but they're not as durable as our combination half rubber / half leather shoes like the Benson style we offer. Reason for the low review. I do not know where my parcel is. Courier left it outside in view of people passing by and upon returning home it was no where to be seen. I have contacted Thomas Bird twice asking what is happening, any information but nothing. No one has got back to me at all. If I knew this is how they treat customers I wouldn't have brought from them in the first place. I might as well put £225 down the drain!

I purchased a pair for a friend for his birthday, then decided that I wanted a different pair. When the first pair arrived at the Post Office I refused them and sent them back and ordered another pair a couple of days later. Well, it has been over 90 days and the "rep" can't find my order and refuses to issue me a refund. Beautiful shoes, very poor customer service.

I didn’t realize it would cost $50 to ship a return back - or that it would be so difficult. Free returns on orders over a certain amount, pre-prepared int’l shipping labels would be required to get me to order anything again. I also sent the item back more than a month ago and still have not received an acknowlegement of receipt or status on my refund.

Hi Sandra, I'm sorry the boots didn't fit. We do offer a subsidised international returns label for £25, about $30, which is the cheapest way of returning orders from the US.
