“Functional course, but don't waste your money on it. There are many better ones out there just do your research. I found the tutor feedback needlessly asinine, weirdly nitpicking, but not ultimately instructive. The grammar instruction videos were paltry, and frankly pathetic.”

“I really enjoyed my course and everything was pretty straightforward. The feedback from the tutor was really helpful. I wish there were more classroom examples, but other than that a great course!”

“I really enjoyed the TEFL Org platform for learning TEFL techniques! I have been putting my certificate to use already, as I am a volunteer tutor one-on-one and in a group setting at a local non-profit. A few things I have noticed and would like to provide feedback on: -The videos that TEFL uses to teach the certificate material seem out of date; could be a great time for a refresh with higher resolution, modern graphics, and sound. -I would have loved a comprehensive list of all the activities used in the teaching modules to serve as a reference for later when trying to come up with creative/alternative ways to teach material -The videos of the classes were fairly advanced; there was not much material/examples for teaching beginners/level zero -The page for teacher resources is really archaic and could use a refresh to be more helpful/searchable for teaching resources -My biggest fear is what if one student in my class cannot read or write (I teach adult immigrants)? -What tactics do you recommend to help with a class where one student is at a much lower level than the rest of the class (again, adult immigrants)? -It would have been nice to have had an email or message to introduce my tutor or someone who I could ask questions to. I had a challenging time figuring that out. The feedback was usually in one or two sentences; sometimes I felt like that individual just wanted to answer the email and get it done instead of caring about what I was asking about. What I have found most useful is the following: -Creating sample lesson plans; that prepared me significantly for preparing my group classes -I took extensive notes for every training module and noted every activity so I could reference back -The stress on S-S interaction is so critical; having students practice speaking is the most important. They can practice listening, reading, and writing at home, but in class, speaking is most important! I would love to continue to receive teaching tips, emails about new ideas, inspirational examples, etc, after my certificate as well.”

“Some of the lesson plans were unnecessary. A few were also too long. Lesson plans should not take pages of writing.”

“I think it was a well-guided course with lots of helpful feedback from my instructor. The course has set me up to feel ready to assist in a classroom or to teach my own short lessons online. The instructor was always easily accessible and responded quickly and effectively. The lessons built off one another so it was easy to follow along, stop when needed, and continue on my own time.”

“A lot of the questions asked on assignments were opinion based or not clear in what they were looking for, so when I answered what the question was asking, it was still wrong because it wasn't what the tutor was loking for. After I finished the course and got my certificate, I could look at the job posting for a few days, but then I could no longer see how to apply because I wasn't a student anymore, even though I'd just finished the course. But at least I could do the course at my own pace.”

“The course has a clear structure, covering key elements of all teaching aspects. The quizzes are beneficial, and the assignments accurately cover what you have learnt. I would definitely recommend. The only area to develop would potentially be having more contact with your tutor throughout to check on how you are doing. Overall, a great course!”

“I had started my TEFL about 2 years ago but I had neglected finishing it because of college. Now that I'm looking for a change in careers being able to come back and finish the TEFL makes me very grateful. TEFL.org has an easy to understand and flexible online program. “I enjoyed the methodology module the most. The videos that showed classroom lessons were really helpful and made it easier to picture how I’d apply things in real life. I also liked how everything was organised and easy to follow. The course felt clear from start to finish, and I honestly feel like I’ve learned a lot and picked up some really useful tips for teaching.
