“I have recently finished a 120-hour TEFL course, and I highly recommend it to anyone who considers starting a career in the field of teaching English as a foreign language. All the materials are meticulously organised so that learning is both engaging and natural, videos of real classes are very useful, assignments are interesting and challenging, and tutors' feedback is always to the point.”

“The course is well organized. I love the possibility of having actual feedback on any assignments, and my tutor was available at all times. I would love the idea of having an online or telephone class implemented to the rest of the activities (I don't know if it is already active for other TEFL courses, but I think it would be great even for the 120-hour Premier online course)”

“The course had clear, divided modules on various relevant themes both theoretical and practical. Assessments were adequately challenging and used a range of cross course knowledge. Rewarding to have finished it and happy to say I’m immediately heading into a teaching position in Vietnam. And Wendy is my favourite character from the video observation course. 🙏❤️”

“Overall it is very good! A lot of great insights and reflections promoted! I enjoyed taking the course and think it was important to organize some thought. Just a kindly suggestion review: I feel like the course is outdated. It talks about a lot of resources but for example it doesn't mention on of the most important now a days for those who want solid virtual presence ( instagram ). By doing that it gives the impression that the material is a little outdated and should be actualized. But overall it is very helpful, and I would just adjust that little issue.”

“It took me about 2 months to complete the 120-hour TEFL course. The modules are relatively simple, it's the written assignments that took more time. Mr Thomas, my course tutor, gave constructive, insightful and encouraging feedback. Thank you very much for your time and effort. Also, I noticed that there are many resources are not up-to-date, such as the world guide, it is a 2021 version. I hope that TEFL Org would be kind enough to send me an updated one as I have made a monetary contribution for this course. Thanks a lot!”

“I enjoyed the course. Very easy to access and use. I liked the varied teaching methods particularly the use of video for theory teaching and observation. All the actors presented as encouraging and enthusiastic. Tomas my tutor always gave fair and supportive feedback on marked assignments. 😃”

“All in all a useful course and a very useful and recognized certificate. With some blind spots. (Which we all have. It’s okay. Really.) The TEFL Method is a rigid ESL structure that takes itself very seriously. There is no room in its dogma to admit or consider any other way of teaching English. As one winds their way through the course one is forced to be guided by TEFL’s inflexible rules, tediously and tirelessly laid out by the curriculum and reinforced by the Instructors and TAs. I found the homework feedback given to me by my TA Steve to be off putting and negative from the start, and after the first two assignments I stopped reading his responses altogether. (He began his second feedback to me thusly: “Do not do what you have written here”, which although admittedly has a certain amount of blunt humor, is unhelpful.) It was enough to know I passed the assignments and simply move on, without taking the time to read his feedback and take my lashes. He may have had some fantastic ideas from which I would have benefitted greatly. I wouldn’t know. The classroom videos of the course are excellent and illuminating. I enjoyed them and collected some good ideas. The website is buggy, but mostly functional. I often had to go back to a lesson and pretend to do it again for the Course to update it and mark it as completed. Upon completing a lesson, instead of moving me forward to the next lesson, the website would at times seem to freeze before taking me back to the main page of module, where I had to scroll down and find my correct lesson. A bit annoying. I am giving the 140-hour TEFL course 3/5 stars, because I did enjoy the material, whose subject matter (learning and teaching languages) I am passionate about. I did learn a lot. I just wish TEFL was more receptive to other ideas. For all its worthy insistence on Student Teaching Time, it felt like I was being preached at for 140 hours, including the 20-hour live module on Zoom, where questions were brushed aside, probably—and fairly—due to time constraints, and including my TA, who made it clear from the start that my class planning was to include only those ideas blessed in TEFL holy water. The TEFL Method is not so precious. There are many ways to learn a second language. There are as many ways to teach a second language. Humans learn things. It’s what we do. Alas, if you want the blessing of a recognized and renowned certification, you must enter the Church and take your lashes. Be sure to leave your own ideas and experiences at the Door.”

“I enjoyed the course very much. It was relevant, helpful and prepared me to be a better ESL teacher. I would have preferred some face to face interaction with my tutor at times and would love to get an overall study plan/curriculum e.g.how to work from stage (pre-intermediate) to stage(intermediate), or ready lesson plans. I loved the video lessons which served as really good examples, I appreciated the assignments even though some took longer than expected but they are needed I think. Thank you overall for putting this together. It is well thought through and well presented. Great work!”

“120-hour premier online course was a superb learning experience for me. Resource persons kept me engaged through bite-size lessons, quizzes, assignments all helping me towards the aims of this course. The Grammar and Methodology courses gave ample classroom examples. The teaching young learners and large classes course could be even better with classroom example. I strongly recommend exploring this one even if you are teaching subjects other than English.”

“I found the course extremely informative and well presented throughout. My level 5 course was divided into 6 courses and those in turn divided into modules. Each course was relevant to its subject material and a general thread of teaching English as a foreign language maintained throughout all courses. The video demonstrations and end of module quizzes helped to re-enforce the learning material. Working through the assignments although challenging at times, again re-enforced exactly what it is we supposed to be teaching and how. The 3 day classroom course put everything into place, my tutor Jo was amazing and was the iceing on the cake to make me feel I can now go out and teach. Thank you Tefl.org”

“You all did very well. I personally am a in person hands on learner. So this course was not my preferred medium and yet I still enjoyed my time in the course. “The course was interesting and covered alot. I must be honest though, and say that the videos of classes were not very realistic. About 8 people in a class and all spoke pretty good English already not sure exactly what level they were. This did not help me much when it came to writing lesson plans for pre intermediate and intermediate. Also the Methodology video was about 'Clothes' ...easy right ? but it didn't help me at all to write a lesson plan for Past Continuous Interrupted for that module 😕!!! I teach 3hour long classes for Pre and Entry 1 with over 10 in most groups. The feedback is very limited but having said that they do get back within the 48hours. I'm guessing it's the best around but has a few areas for development .”
