“The TEFL Org have created a good learning site with videos, quizzes and assignments online. It is a good way of trying something else alongside other jobs, to start and create something new for the future. The tutors could improve their way of feedback as I often felt mine was writing off a already written text, not replying to my questions nor giving me constructive feedback on how to improve.”

“I think the lessons were clear and well-informed. As a secondary English school teacher in the UK, I found the course especially helpful for revisiting grammar topics which I was able to teach to some of my own classes. I found it helpful that the course provided specific areas of teaching that I may not have considered e.g. teaching to large groups or online. However, I will say the reference to visual/kinesthetic learning was wholly inaccurate and outdated. Please revisit this topic using recent journals about how learners learn. As well-intentioned as it may sound, there is no such thing as an 'auditory' learner or any of the other senses because students use all their senses.”

“Overall I thought it was well laid-out. My feedback is that for the video segments, sometimes I found it distracting that the speakers were clearly reading off a teleprompter and they made it far too obvious. Also on the whole, all of the video classroom demonstrations were of a very high level of english language learners. In practice, the teaching I've done to language learners has been to speakers that are far more beginner. This rendered a lot of the TEFL activities challenging for me to replicate and I wish there was more content on how to communicate in VERY simple English to increase learners' chances at understanding. For reference, I'm currently teaching in Japan, and I have to use a lot of Japanese in the classroom to run games because otherwise the other teacher and the students won't know what's happening.”

“I found the resources really helpful but did wonder what our "mentor" was there for except telling us our work wasn't correct and adding new things to do everytime.”

“The practicum course was great and just what I needed. I thought it could have benefitted from being a couple of hours longer, maybe each session could have been three hours with a break in between. Richard was great but should have had a better laptop.”

“I thought the program was very good. My teacher's feedback was helpful and encouraging. I would suggest two improvements: 1) the audio during student production time was not good at all. I found many times that I would have benefited from hearing what the students were discussing during an activity. 2) I would have liked a way to contact my teacher other than when submitting an assessment. There were times I would have liked to respond to her feedback but there was not way for me to do that. The only contact was when I submitted an assessment-- and how can I just tack on a question there? Maybe I missed something and there was a way to interact with her. If so, maybe making it more obvious on the course. ALSO BELOW I AM ASKED ABOUT A DELIVERY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT IS IN REFERENCE TO. SHOULD I BE RECEIVING SOMETHING IN THE MAIL???”

“It's an excellent site. The courses are well prepared, logically presented and easy to follow, and the teachers are excellent. The advantages include the ability to work the various units and modules at your own pace, going back to check on things if need be. You can also pause and replay the videos to focus on specific aspects, and having the transcript presented on screen facilitates note-taking if you can't have the video playing with audio for whatever reason.”

“I enjoyed watching the skillful teachers in action. I am a veteran teacher with 60 credits beyond my master's in education and started off thinking I wouldn't learn very much. I was wrong. I learned many strategies to help my ESL teaching. I felt that some of the assignments were busy work, and also felt that at times they were too fussy about using your hard-core template to write lesson plans etc. I tried to think outside the TEFL box a few times and quickly learned that I was not invited to do so. It's OK - what you gave me I needed and I am grateful.”
