“I booked an assessment session for my two children, a 3 and 8 year old. I had been very clear from the beginning that both my children had zero swimming experience and had never been in a pool. Also my eldest was afraid of the whole swimming idea. Hence why I wanted to book these one to one lessons. However, when we turned up to Sports Direct (Manchester) for my children’s swimming lesson it was a completely different story. The pool was 2.2m deep and the instructor advised she wasn’t going to get into the pool with them due to an injury. My children introduced themselves and sat down by the pool. My 3 year old got arm bands and my 8 year old didn’t. She then said she was going to get them in the pool, she picked my 3 year old and dropped him in. He obviously didn’t know what was happening and went head first, panicked and was flapping around. However, he was able to push himself towards the edge and climb out. My 8 year old saw this and refused to go in, it completely put her off. I asked the instructor if she would at least hold my little boys hand and try again, which she did but my little boy just didn’t like it and pulled himself out of the pool. With my little girl refusing to go in, we decided to leave. So the session only lasted 10 minutes and not only did those 10 minutes cost £40, I paid to have my children hated the idea of swimming even more. I’ve spoken to various people, friends and colleagues and they’ve all said that you don’t just drop a 3 year old in to do his own thing, that’s not professional. I just think it comes down to the instructor that you get as I chose Swimnow because of the good reviews, unfortunately not for everyone.”
Dear RAkhtar,
I'm very sorry to hear about your experience with us, this is certainly not the type of service we are looking to provide.
We would be more than happy to refund your payment in full, or give you a free assessment with a different teacher who could try another approach.
Unfortunately the issues you experienced were simply a result of bad timing, our teacher had an operation that week and was teaching from the side of the pool, instead of in the water (for one week only)
We made the decision to try and keep the lessons on to build continuity rather than cancel. I can see how in this instance it might have been a better idea to put your lesson back to the following week. That's my fault, I apologise.
Please feel free to come back to us if you'd like to try one of our other options.
Kind Regards, Alistair Mills, Owner, Swim Now Uk
“Connie was really a good instructor. She started to teach me floating and breathing techniques. She was very patient and supportive and I guarantee, who always advises to relax and swim better. Tho, I needed more time to be better.”
“Ben is a brilliant swim teacher my son loves going to his lessons during the summer and learns so much this is the second year my son has had Ben and he just gets better and better, the difference in my son's swimming in just a few lesson amazes me Ben works really hard on his strokes with him but also makes it fun. Swimnow keep in touch to see how my son is getting on which is lovely also.”
“I wanted to learn to swim from scratch after a long break of not being in a pool. After 1 lesson with Kaitlyn, she had me swimming front crawl. After only 2 and a half hours of lessons, I’m almost where I wanted to be. Kaitlyn is an amazing instructor, I’m learning fast and she is pushing me which I enjoy. Can’t recommend enough and looking forward to taking out another package in future!”
“Never been swimming since a near drowning experience in childhood. I have finally decided to conquer my fears 40 years later. My confidence in the water has improved & I’m now able to swim lengths. However, my breathing and technique needs improvement. Thanks to Andy for his kindness, patience, perseverance & expertise.”
“My 4 yr old daughter Isobel has progressed really quickly with her instructor Pete. He’s structured lessons so she’s gained confidence in the water, and looks forward to lessons. I would recommend Pete to anyone!”
“My instructor Kaitlyn was fanstastic. Knowledgable, friendly, professional and very helpful. I now feel more confident in the pool than I ever have before. I will definitely be recommending Swim Now to friends and family.”
“I found the lessons with Maria very good, she was very encouraging and gave me very enjoyable lessons. I can now swim breast stroke, and I can float and swim on my back, which I have wanted to do for years!!”
“Facing my fears at 40; I took the decision to combat the fear of swimming, swimming pools and generally any large bodies of water!
Dominique's commitment, expertise, professional approach all delivered with patience, care and a smile have made my swimming journey a success.
I have plenty to learn and practice particularly breathing!! However feel confident more lessons with Dominique over the coming months will deliver results.”
“Big thank you to Monika for her patience, encouragement and her caring attitude . I was a little uncomfortable being in the pool with other people from the gym as I wasn’t expecting anyone else to be there. Monika made me feel at ease and soon didn’t notice others. My confidence in the water has improved so much that I recently went to Portugal and actually enjoyed the pool at the villa. I can swim on my back much better than front. Breathing and getting the arms technique needs practicing. This is the best thing I could have done. I wish I could afford further lessons. But I’ll think about saving for the improvers course. Thank you Monika, thank you SwimNow👍🏽 Definitely recommend”
“I am 48 years old and approximately 4 weeks ago, I could barely swim. Fast forward and I can float, swim on my back and front which I never ever imagined possible and I can do the front crawl- just need to learn to breathe. Best thing I’ve done for myself this year. Million thanks to Kaitlyn who is very patient and kind throughout xx”

“Pete at SwimNow Sheffield has been great. My son's water confidence and swimming ability has come on in leaps and bounds since starting lessons with Pete.”
“Had my assessment lesson last week with Jenna . At first I felt a bit uncomfortable with members of the hotel guests using the pool but that soon disappeared when I got in the water, and all my attention was on my lesson. Straight away I was made more confident, by just walking the length of the pool unaided. I was then floating on my front with a float aid. Hopefully this is the start of something good. As a 54 year old none swimmer ,who has a great fear of water. Iv booked more lessons with Jenna who I find extremely caring and encouraging”
