“Does what it's supposed to and they have a large selection of compatible headphones. You can customize the calibration which is cool. If you want a more accurate representation of your music give the trial a try and see if it's right for you.”

“The product itself is amazing, like magic really. My my monitors have never been this accurate to listen to. Thought it was. A little weird that my purchase wasn’t tied to my account, but rather I had to add the license key I received onto my account post purchase. Other than that, great purchase.”

“The experience of shopping was good, it was a bit difficult to find info about education discounts at first. Also, the educational discount is a bit problematic, that it offers just 1 licence, instead of at least 2 which makes it very limiting, as I would also love to use it on a laptop but buying 2 licences with educational discount is more expensive than buying 3 licences with the regular version, which doesn't really make sense to me.”

“The information provided at Sonarworks unfortunately only insufficiently allows to make an objective assessment of the extent to which the Sonarworks calibration target can serve as a reference. Objective boundary conditions to the statistical surveys are very vague or are not disclosed. So the only option left is to form your own subjective judgment, which in my case turned out convincingly as a subjective improvement. However, this is still not sufficient to recognize it as a reference. I am of course aware of the difficulties to objectify psychoacoustic correlations, since they are always subjective, but had hoped for more in methodological terms. Thus, it remains only a longer practical trial with the critical user. The handling of the individual headphone calibration is uncomplicated. However, there was an information leak during delivery in Riga, so Sonarworks first had to be informed by me that my shipment was ready for pickup.”

“The issue is spending more money to get more without knowing I didn’t even want to make the purchase in the first place I was just on a trail however I like many are chasing the perfect studio professional sound without the expensive studio all within a bedroom I am literally your perfect example of where you guys have the most sales and you guys actually have me wanting to have an even more studio experience within my bedroom but I spent all my money on the upgrade and then come to find out I need to buy a microphone separate which costs another 89$ then I find that you guys charge the same amount I paid for the headphones and speaker bundle to have your own custom calibration it’s a genius way to do this especially to people like me who are dedicated to getting the most sound with the cheapest smallest equipment in a tiny bedroom I just recommend that you have a section on your website that asks you in more in detail what your looking to do in sound and you guys directly send the actual full price and also offer a no credit check pay to play system where we can make payments with no credit check allowing users like me who make $1400 every two weeks working a dead end job it can allow us to experience the full value of your product in a financially optional way I just paid my last $89 to buy the mic to calibrate my monitors that I thought I didn’t need because I was under the impression that once you purchase the upgrade to headphones and monitors that’s it no more expenses but then using the microphone that I already have doesn’t even work on calibrating it”

“I have been using Sonarworks for a couple of years now. I started with Reference 4 Headphone edition which really improved my ability to mix music at home. Since I didn't know what to expect, I chose a cheap pair of headphones I found on their pre-calibrated list (Samson SR850) because I found this to offer a flatter frequency response than many other headphones at the time and found it worked well when I enabled Reference 4 in my DAW. I recently bought a new laptop which required me to upgrade a lot of my plugins, including Reference 4. At the time I bought Reference 4, I was not employed as an educator so I wasn't sure if I was able to upgrade Reference 4 to SoundID with the educational discount, after speaking with an agent over their Chat on the website, I was able to get a quick answer to a few questions, their customer service seems quite excellent although I've never contacted them for any type of troubleshooting (yet). Sonarworks would go as far as letting customers know they could email a certain pair of headphones not included on their list to have them calibrated, I think this is exceptional, I do have a pair of headphones no longer on the market that I wish was included on the list and the only thing that stops me is that they are my absolute favourite pair of headphones and I wouldn't want to part with them for anything-even if it is to calibrate them to a good piece of software! As far as recommendations, I'm not sure what goes into the process of calibrating headphones but I kind of wish there was a way for customers to do it, after all, my understanding is you can calibrate your monitors if you have that version of Refernce/SoundID. Again, my knowledge of that process is limited so I'm happy to know that I could always mail them my headphones for calibration, I think that is going above and beyond customer service. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I honestly believe no one, or anything is absolutely perfect, I have noticed a difference in calibration with the Samson's in the new SoundID vs. Reference 4 and I sometimes find that the sound is not translating as well as it was on the old Reference 4. For example, a snare sound would sound dull in the beginning at the first 1 or 2 hits and then sound snappy for the rest, I'm not sure why that is, as it doesn't seem like its latency, but overall, I'm happy with the product and will try to find a different pair of headphones on the calibrated list to try, my brother did end up purchasing Audio Technicas MH50X which he said I could try, so I'm looking forward to hearing what the calibration is like. Thank you Sonarworks for making a product that has helped me improve my mixes considerably as a home studio musician!”

“Cons: - Confusing options and upgrades! Don't make me buy one package and then upgrade it seconds later, like you did in your most recent marketing pitch. Coming from the trial I had to handle three keys or so, that became super confusing. - The UI scaling for stand alone app doesn't work properly - Had a bit trouble with with your drivers, had to reinstall. But once working it's fine. Pros: + Very good results + Impressive measurement procedure, super easy, great results.”

Hi Francois, Thanks for your review, we really appreciate it! Sorry to hear the product options and upgrades were a bit confusing! It is possible to upgrade certain licenses to a different product edition or upgrade legacy licenses to SoundID Reference. It is also possible to purchase the full SoundID Reference licenses if you're a new user, this way avoiding additional upgrades (or until you decide you would like to upgrade).
