“Foam is easy to cut, as long as scalpel blades are sharp. They dull quickly, and the cutting kit provided does not include enough blades for anything other than small jobs. I had to buy 100 more blades on Amazon. Also the foam color is inconsistent and blotchy in places. For a toolbox, it is acceptable though. Also, the foam thickness is inconsistent, I found several sheets of 10mm were varying thickness. Overall, the product works, and looks nice when done, but the quality control at the plant has lots of room for improvement.”

“I purchased two sections of high quality Shadow Foam, 4cm and 5cm deep to accommodate three camera bodies and several lenses in an expensive aluminium case. I removed the poor quality 9 cm deep diced foam and placed the 4cm Shadow Foam in the base of the case. I made cardboard templates for the camera bodies and carefully cut holes for them right through the 5cm sections. The bodies could then be pushed into the snug fitting holes until their bases sat flat on the lower section, leaving around 2cm of the camera top plates above the surface. The top of the Shadow Foam was finished in black, an attractive background against the chrome of the cameras. The result is a very professional finish and a very expensive looking camera collection.”

“The foam is for a project where I am making a box to keep my sons collection of Dr Who Sonic Screwdrivers safe and all together. The foam was cut perfectly to my specification, fitting in the box exactly how I wanted. I am still making the template before I actually cut out the foam not wishing to get it wrong and a bit slow as this kind of project is a first for me. Excellent customer service and shipping!”

“The feel is a little different than I expected, but not in a wrong way. Cutting it does take practice, I basicly butchered my first sample trying. But it should be fine after some tries, cutting it is easy. I like the color of the top layer, it is homogenous and not too vibrant. I will definitely try to mill it using a Datron foam mill to make more precise cuts, but so far it functions well, I'm just bad at cutting it to shape.”

“I recently purchased one of your sample packs. I had looked at other sellers of tool draw liners but I couldn’t find any of them that would provide a sample of the colour I wanted. So it was great to see your sample packs with the option to select a colour of your choosing. Loved how it was packaged and with the knife included. Also great to purchase from a UK company and to see that you proudly put that on the box. Great helpful leaflet included but as a thought is it possible to do away with the leaflet and have the instructions printed on the inside of the box like another UK company, crud products do with their packaging. I was able to try it out straight away, pretty simple to do with professional looking results. I’ve not used the red coloured sample yet but at least that’s the colour I’m going for. Just need to check on the sizes I need before ordering.”

“It's a pleasure for me to write this review after the level of service provided by ShadowFoam. I was in the market looking for a new foam insert for my rifle case. Went online, completed the dimensions and colour and the foam arrived the following day, all good. The issue was that my dimensions were completely out (still don't know how that could have happened). I contacted ShadowFoam through the website, and as I lived only 20 miles away suggested visiting the shop and see if they could cut my foam down to the correct dimensions. Jonathan Shone, the business owner, came back to me within an hour and we arranged for me to visit the following day. Jonathan gave me a guided tour of the business; they have invested a lot in state-of-the-art foam cutting equipment and Jonathan is extremely knowledgeable - very impressive setup. He cut-down my foam to the right size and then went on to give me a foam cutting lesson. The spare foam was cut to the size of my tool cabinet drawers (which was an added bonus) and all was done for free!! In today's market, we expect fast delivery and to pay a higher price for quality, but what we seldom get is the level of support I experienced from ShadowFoam. I can't recommend the product or the company more highly and will be certainly posting a picture of my rifle case when completed.”

“The foam itself is very high quality with a nice clean finish. It has good density and holds items in place well. My only issue comes with cleaning the bottom of the foam cavity on larger items. It is difficult to get a clean finish but this only shows once items are removed. Ideal for showcasing products but not often absent items.”

“I am local so I had the opportunity to deal with the team in person. A positive, enthusiastic and very customer oriented bunch, it was easy to do business with them. As many people before me have noted, the foam is easier to work with than I feared and even my practice pieces (shown) have been useful. Next up, a 5 layer Pelican case for my main electrical installation and maintenance kit :-) As recommended, change your blade often. It makes cutting much easier and more precise.”

“Cut perfectly to size and delivered quickly. the thin blades privided make tracing tool outlines very easy and means you get a tight fit so things are held nicely in place. I can certainly see more situations that this would work perfectly for in the future and will more than likely be ordering again.”
