“On previous years the audit process has been smooth and efficient. Unfortunately that was not the case this time. The requirements had changed and despite having SSIP approved status by BSI under our ISO45001 standard, you expected more information then we had ever given before. Expecting information from us that is beyond the requirements of the Law and even the ISO45001 standard. It begs the question, what are you offering that the SSIP's ISO45001 status give us????”

“No issues at all, staff are very friendly and accommodating. Easy to get through to on phone which is a must for older people like me. So nice to be able to discuss problems with membership than just emailing. This is my 3rd or 4th year and will continue to be a member until I finish with business.”

“Overly complicated, asks questions and for proof of items covered last year which have a three year renewal date. Only undertake this extra burden of red tape, as one client requires it. Every new client requires a different accreditation by a different supplier, forcing small company's like ourselves out of the bidding process. Eventually there will only larger national company's in the commercial market place, who will subcontract out all the work to small company's making less and less profit.”

Clients choose to work with us because we enable them to have greater visibility of the health and safety compliance of their supply chain. Our system ensures that all contractors they work with have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. We conduct an annual audit which means that all documentation needs to be submitted each year in order for accreditation to be awarded. To make the process easier next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal so that when the questionnaire is released 30 days before expiry you can re-submit your up to date documents quickly. We are committed to supporting SMEs, and SafeContractor accreditation has empowered our members who own small businesses to win more work and in some cases to even double their turnover in less than a year.
