“The process was daunting to begin with and the information required quite comprehensive but well laid out on the portal. The questions were easy to understand and uploading evidence was relatively simple to do. Overall the whole process after submission took about 4-5 days for the assessment to be completed, one piece of addition information was required and our accreditation was through within 2 hours.”

“The process is strict, but the questions asked are relatively clear. The secondary queries are asked directly, and promptly, in a helpful manner. Furthermore, where it has been problematic to reply, the support has been helpful, and informative, ensuring the necessary improvements or actions required, are taken. This has been most helpful and has improved our safety management. It has also helped ensure we maintained our accreditation.”

“It took 6 weeks to process. I don't really want to be forced to pay additional for a speedier assessment...the fee is already large enough for a small business. It takes 10 days max for CHAS...”

“The process was quick and much easier to complete (than some other accreditation's), due to the fact that you can upload documents throughout the year as & when they are renewed. This is less time consuming and much easier to manage your workload when spread over the year, instead of dedicating a block of up to two weeks spent uploading documents and answering questions. Well done on this unique approach to renewing certifications.”

“The whole process is flawed and this is frustrating and potentially damaging for our company. I cannot send my online renewal until 1 month before the expiry date but then it can take up to 6 weeks for you to do the assessment. As happened this year, our accreditation expired, we had customers chasing a copy of our certificate and had nothing to give them - it makes us look unprofessional. Yet if we pay more, we can get it done in 2 days! Why should we when the basic service should get it done in ample time? I only got the accreditation approved once I chased it which was 5 days after it had expired.”

“Every year I ask that someone get in touch with me in order to tell me as soon as my questionnaire is available to fill in. Every year I am told in order to complete my questionnaire in time I will have to pay extra as we have run out of time for the standard service, even having returned the questionnaire within two days of receipt of the reminder email. The individuals I speak to are always helpful and polite, however the service as a whole is very poor and frustrating.”

“Significantly delayed, while I appreciate it may not have been the fault of Safecontractor we had to await the renewal of our CHAS accreditation in order to finalise the safe contractor process, this was apparently due to not appearing on the SSIP portal. We had provided certification of CHAS and they had confirmed we were accredited but due to bye laws we had to await our update on the system. I can only assume this was the fault of CHAS as they offered a years free registration, but nethertheless the resultant delay meant our client had to chase us for three months for an update on the process.”

Unfortunately, in the case of Deem To Satisfy audits we do require a valid membership to your other provider (in this case CHAS) to be visible on the SSIP portal. To avoid this causing an issue for your other clients who require a full SafeContractor accreditation in the future, you could consider using your full SafeContractor accreditation to FastTrack to other SSIP schemes with up to 77% discount. Please reference the SSIP Deem To Satisfy chart (https://ssip.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Deem-to-Satisfy-Chart-15.08.19.pdf) to see the time and money savings you could get from being SafeContractor accredited.

“Overall good. However, our policy expiry date is 16th January and we have an issue every year whereby even though all documentation is uploaded as soon as it can be uploaded, because of the Christmas break and your two week closure, the policy expires before the new accreditation is received. This does cause us problems accessing sites for some clients. We have raised this issue a number of times and asked for either an extended period before the expiry date to allow us to submit the documentation or an amendment to the expiry date.”
