After numerous years of submitting our application with the same company name, the assessor decided this year that Contracting was required also, this was extremely very nick picky and unnecessary and caused no end of additional time and money, even Chas then deem to satisfy questioned our name change. I do think that this was very unreasonable as we have been known as SJS Irrigation for many many years !

The whole renewal process appears to have become a money making exercise due to the fact that the renewal process time frame is insufficient to readily complete the task within the time taken to turn around renewals unless one pays for an express service. To open the renewal portal 1 month before the renewal date and then have a 20 working day (effectively 1 month!) turnaround period is totally unacceptable. Either shorten the turnaround of extend the renewal window.

This is year 5, you ask for payment 16 weeks before expiry, followed by notifications etc. then want another extra for something else. Once submitted 28 days for evaluation but for a payment of £100 you can evaluate quicker still waiting cert 14 days after accreditation. 30% down on revenue last 12 months, an extension of cover would have been a decent gesture..

we were very disappointed with the accreditation process this year, only call actively received was to try and upsell a faster accreditation process which we declined. Then it felt like we were on a slow track and communication with the advisor was slow and had to be chased. Felt like we were being asked to create new assessments not used in the industry and felt advisor knowledge was poor

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. On a standard package, we aim to review your submission within 20 working days. However if you would like to upgrade your package to have an express audit included or to include assistance from our team of expert IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors then this option is available to you also. To make the process faster next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted 30 days before expiry.

I have been with SafeContractor for 7 years now but unfortunately cost has gone up year on year and length time to audit has gone up. Other accrediting bodies over 10 days and less as standard, SafeContractor is 20 days as standard and they went over 20 days in my recent audit.

Thank you for your review, and for being a member for the last 7 years! Please be advised that our standard audit time taken from all required documents being submitted is 20 working days for a technical officer to review your h&s assessment. I can see that following your initial submission our Technical Support Team required additional info to be submitted, and once this was received your accreditation was awarded 4 days later. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this delay may have caused. To ensure this does not happen again, we recommend making a note of all documents submitted this more and updating these throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted, with all required documents, 30 days before expiry.

I'm really not happy about the cost of having to have Safecontractor. It doesn't attract any new business. I find the renewal process to be time consuming and frustrating. I feel that the personnel involved don't understand where our business fits. Although I've spoken to some pleasant people, there have also been one or two who I felt were brusque. I wouldn't buy into this product if one of our customers didn't insist that we have it.

I think that once certain H&S procedures have been shown to be in place we shouldn't have to demonstrate the procedure every year. Especially if the people answering the questionnaire and submitting the info each year are the same. I think a statement that the same procedures are being followed should be sufficient. There should be a separate accreditation for Designers - i.e SafeDesigner. The Safecontractor title causes confusion and reduces the benefit of membership for other disciplines.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. This means that your documents must be re-submitted for appraisal as part of your review each year. Your accreditation certificate should clearly list the work activities you have been approved for, but please don’t hesitate to contact our team for clarification if there is ever any confusion with this with yourself or clients and our team will be happy to confirm.

not impressed with time it took to be re-accredited. having to re confirm issues which have been addressed in all our previous audits. The fact that you try to get more money out of customers for a quick turnaround is in my opinion just money grabbing and not at all in your customers interest.

Renewal not easy this year. Staff not helpful with the exception of one lady who I made a complaint to. Slow turn around, had to chase renewal through on final day of SLA as no correspondence received.

The assessment is way too stringent. It is going way beyond working safely. Maybe it could be renamed "ModelContractor" or "IdealisticContractor" ? (but this 2nd one is a bit long for a logo). Also there should be a better marketing effort to standardise the use of SafeContractor. At the moment our customers require us to get other standards similar to SC so we have to duplicate our time and efforts.

I found the ‘personalised’ service I paid an extra £150 for lacking in what I would have expected for my money and one of your advisors most unhelpful or informative verging on the point of rude..

20 day turnaround to review submissions is totally unacceptable. Asking for an upgrade fee to reduce the turnaround time is equally unacceptable; why should I subsidise your being inadequately resourced?

You advise companies that the accreditation is due for renewal exactly 20 days before the expiry date. When we complete the questionnaire, you say that the application will be dealt with within 20 days. Within 20 days means that it could be any day from day one to day 20, but as you want to sell the fast track, you actually audit the questionnaire on the 20th day as it has been with us. Not very satisfied with the communication of your audit timing. Also, the website is not very user-friendly and we are not able to see when we submit our accreditation questionnaire, so we can't really see the progress of the auditing process. The website doesn't work on Chrome, which is the most common web browser nowadays.

Although I received emails to advise me to prepare for my upcoming accreditation I did not receive an email advising me when the window to submit was open. I submitted my application on 7th July and understood the accreditation could take 4 weeks to review. I chased up to check on progress 2 days before expiry to be told it would be looked at on the last day within the 4 week window. When it was eventually reviewed I received some queries which I responded to, the case was then reviewed by another auditor who raised further questions causing further delays. I understand that you have to set Service Level Agreements but do not expect my application to have to wait until the final day of the 4 week window to be reviewed purely because I did not pay for a speedier service. I also understand that different auditors have different views but it seems unfair to keep raising questions following an initial audit, all questions should have been raised on the initial review. Finally and to cap it all I had to chase to get my certificate uploaded to the portal as no-one could see it following approval. It wouldn't be so bad it this didn't happen every year - not impressed.
