You advise companies that the accreditation is due for renewal exactly 20 days before the expiry date. When we complete the questionnaire, you say that the application will be dealt with within 20 days. Within 20 days means that it could be any day from day one to day 20, but as you want to sell the fast track, you actually audit the questionnaire on the 20th day as it has been with us. Not very satisfied with the communication of your audit timing. Also, the website is not very user-friendly and we are not able to see when we submit our accreditation questionnaire, so we can't really see the progress of the auditing process. The website doesn't work on Chrome, which is the most common web browser nowadays.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. We send out reminders for your accreditation expiry at 60 and 30 days prior to expiry date, please keep an eye on your inbox to ensure you receive these. Our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. To make the process faster next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted 30 days before expiry. If you have any further queries about how this works then please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team directly.

Although I received emails to advise me to prepare for my upcoming accreditation I did not receive an email advising me when the window to submit was open. I submitted my application on 7th July and understood the accreditation could take 4 weeks to review. I chased up to check on progress 2 days before expiry to be told it would be looked at on the last day within the 4 week window. When it was eventually reviewed I received some queries which I responded to, the case was then reviewed by another auditor who raised further questions causing further delays. I understand that you have to set Service Level Agreements but do not expect my application to have to wait until the final day of the 4 week window to be reviewed purely because I did not pay for a speedier service. I also understand that different auditors have different views but it seems unfair to keep raising questions following an initial audit, all questions should have been raised on the initial review. Finally and to cap it all I had to chase to get my certificate uploaded to the portal as no-one could see it following approval. It wouldn't be so bad it this didn't happen every year - not impressed.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. We’re sorry to learn that you did not receive your 30 day reminder email advising of your submission deadline, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this. This may sometimes involve further documentation being required or auditor queries to ensure compliance. Please be advised that our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. However, if you would like to upgrade your package to have an express audit included or to include assistance from our team of expert IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors then this option is available to you also. the time it takes for the audit is way to long. as a small business i think it’s wrong that you must pay extra to have the time shortened

Congratulations on achieving accreditation and thank you for your review. To answer your question, both providers offer health & safety accreditation to ensure your working practices are compliant with legislation, in accordance with SSIP. SafeContractor goes beyond the 14-point core SSIP criteria to ask risk-based questions tailored to your business profile, meaning that we audit you for the work activities you complete and build an accurate, risk-based profile for clients to review when seeking to award work on our client portal. SafeContractor work with over 470 leading UK client organisations to ensure compliance within their supply chains, meaning that you can win more work and enhance your reputation. If you are being asked to complete both accreditations, then we recommend you look into the additional SSIP scheme discounts of up to 77%. You can gain a full SafeContractor accreditation to FastTrack to other SSIP schemes with up to a 77% discount. See the SSIP Deem to Satisfy Chart: https://ssip.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Deem-to-Satisfy-Chart-15.08.19.pdf

There are far too many different accreditation schemes all verifying the same things to the same level of detail but each costing significant money to subscribe to. Despite jumping through all these hoops, Suppliers are still required to complete PQQs and tender documents which is also very time consuming. Suppliers are held to ransom by accreditation organisations as if they choose not to pay for the service, it threatens their client relationships. It is unreasonable that hard working suppliers are forced to subscribe to so many different schemes all verifying the same information. It is a racket.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. If you have to complete this for multiple clients and find this expensive, we recommend reviewing the SSIP Deem to Satisfy criteria – many accreditation schemes offer significant discounts for their audit process if you have existing accreditation awards with other SSIP members. Accreditation always takes too long. It seems to start only when SafeContractor are ready and then the process feels unnecessarily dragged out, with a suspicion that this is to panic the client into throwing some more money at it to speed up the process. Ideally membership should not lapse between accreditation years, as it is Safecontractor that causes most of the delay.

Disappointed that the review was conducted so late in the review timeframe. Until I complained my renewal looked like it was only going to be looked at on the very last day of the indicated timeframe. We are existing clients. We are already accredited. We submit an updated application. We expect to be treated promptly not be hustled for more money. It looks and feels like a scam to force existing clients to pay extra. SafeContractor can and should do better.

The process is bizarre as the payment date is before the accreditation renewal date which is confusing. Why cant this be the same? The process took quite some time to complete, which is a hindrance, I appreciate the COVID crisis but all examiners work from home anyway? The cost continues to increase but what do we get for our money?

Thank you for your feedback, and congratulations on your accreditation. Your payment date doesn't change as this is the anniversary of when you first joined the scheme and you will always make your annual payment on this date. Your accreditation date is dependent on when you achieved accreditation after completing the audit process. This varies from your payment date as naturally cannot be completed in a day, and depends on how long it takes you each year to complete the audit and become approved. If you require any assistance with understanding the process or how your accreditation and renewal dates work then please do not hesitate to contact our team of IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors. Our team are always on hand and happy to assist you, whether they are currently working at home due to the pandemic or once we safely return to our office.

Thanks for leaving us a review and thank you for your feedback. I've picked this up with our Auditor Team Leader who has confirmed that as your accreditation was turned around quickly and renewed prior to your previous certificate expiry date, the certificate date was left as your original renewal date to ensure that you had 12 months of accreditation coverage. Please accept our apologies for an inconvenience that this may have caused you, and do not hesitate to contact us directly with any queries.

Application took over a month to be reviewed. Changing criteria from year before caused problems as it was not applicable and 'computer says no attitude' did not help.

it took a month for you to review the renewal application only to be told we needed to do more stuff to be able to regain the accreditation which meant further delays even though some of the information had already been provided. I think your turn around time needs to be assessed.

Every year SafeContractor ask the same questions - fair enough as they need to understand whether my business has changed or not Every year I reply to those questions with essentially the same answers as the previous year, amended in accordance with the comments or questions raised by the (nameless) auditor EVERY YEAR THEY FAIL MY ACCREDITATION EITHER REQUESTING FURTHER CLARIFICATION ON SOMETHING OR HAVING FAILED TO READ THE ANSWER TO A QUESTION ANNUAL FRUSTRATIONS CAUSED BY THIS ARE BEYOND A JOKE

I'm already accredited by my Trade Body the NICEIC who once a year carry out a company audit by attending our office to carry out an office audit to see if everything is in place, H+S, etc and then they randomly ask to visit recent jobs, where we both have to attend and go through the job in detail including RAMS, Method Statements, Worksheets, Test Certificates etc. So I can't see why I have to pay out nearly £400 for this when I can send any requested documents to my clients / customers directly

Thank you for leaving us a review and congratulations on your accreditation. Our accreditation is awarded based on a remote audit of your health and safety documentation to ensure that you are compliant with legislation. Being awarded our SSIP recognised accreditation means that any clients you work with can refer directly to our accreditation and/or the SSIP portal to confirm your h&s compliance, thus reducing the burden on you to provide your multiple clients with all of your paperwork for every job you undertake. I hope this helps you to understand how the process works, but please do not hesitate to contact us directly for more information about how this works.
