Pay a lot of money out then have to collate a lot of paper work yourself, And then don’t get any work out of it .

There are far too many different accreditation schemes all verifying the same things to the same level of detail but each costing significant money to subscribe to. Despite jumping through all these hoops, Suppliers are still required to complete PQQs and tender documents which is also very time consuming. Suppliers are held to ransom by accreditation organisations as if they choose not to pay for the service, it threatens their client relationships. It is unreasonable that hard working suppliers are forced to subscribe to so many different schemes all verifying the same information. It is a racket.

Accreditation always takes too long. It seems to start only when SafeContractor are ready and then the process feels unnecessarily dragged out, with a suspicion that this is to panic the client into throwing some more money at it to speed up the process. Ideally membership should not lapse between accreditation years, as it is Safecontractor that causes most of the delay.

Disappointed that the review was conducted so late in the review timeframe. Until I complained my renewal looked like it was only going to be looked at on the very last day of the indicated timeframe. We are existing clients. We are already accredited. We submit an updated application. We expect to be treated promptly not be hustled for more money. It looks and feels like a scam to force existing clients to pay extra. SafeContractor can and should do better.

The process is bizarre as the payment date is before the accreditation renewal date which is confusing. Why cant this be the same? The process took quite some time to complete, which is a hindrance, I appreciate the COVID crisis but all examiners work from home anyway? The cost continues to increase but what do we get for our money?

Thank you for your feedback, and congratulations on your accreditation. Your payment date doesn't change as this is the anniversary of when you first joined the scheme and you will always make your annual payment on this date. Your accreditation date is dependent on when you achieved accreditation after completing the audit process. This varies from your payment date as naturally cannot be completed in a day, and depends on how long it takes you each year to complete the audit and become approved. The renewal process was actually very good but I can't give a good rating because you sent me an incorrectly dated certificate which has caused a lot of problems for us.

I've picked this up with our Auditor Team Leader who has confirmed that as your accreditation was turned around quickly and renewed prior to your previous certificate expiry date, the certificate date was left as your original renewal date to ensure that you had 12 months of accreditation coverage. Application took over a month to be reviewed. Changing criteria from year before caused problems as it was not applicable and 'computer says no attitude' did not help.

it took a month for you to review the renewal application only to be told we needed to do more stuff to be able to regain the accreditation which meant further delays even though some of the information had already been provided. I think your turn around time needs to be assessed.

Every year SafeContractor ask the same questions - fair enough as they need to understand whether my business has changed or not Every year I reply to those questions with essentially the same answers as the previous year, amended in accordance with the comments or questions raised by the (nameless) auditor EVERY YEAR THEY FAIL MY ACCREDITATION EITHER REQUESTING FURTHER CLARIFICATION ON SOMETHING OR HAVING FAILED TO READ THE ANSWER TO A QUESTION ANNUAL FRUSTRATIONS CAUSED BY THIS ARE BEYOND A JOKE

Long process. Documents that were asked were not appropriate to our company. No assistance. The questionnaire website has never worked for us - many attempts to access but then told email documents and answers. The whole experience is frustrating.

I'm already accredited by my Trade Body the NICEIC who once a year carry out a company audit by attending our office to carry out an office audit to see if everything is in place, H+S, etc and then they randomly ask to visit recent jobs, where we both have to attend and go through the job in detail including RAMS, Method Statements, Worksheets, Test Certificates etc. So I can't see why I have to pay out nearly £400 for this when I can send any requested documents to my clients / customers directly

Our accreditation is awarded based on a remote audit of your health and safety documentation to ensure that you are compliant with legislation. Being awarded our SSIP recognised accreditation means that any clients you work with can refer directly to our accreditation and/or the SSIP portal to confirm your h&s compliance, thus reducing the burden on you to provide your multiple clients with all of your paperwork for every job you undertake. We subscribe to the 20 business days service whereby our accreditation should be completed in this time. Last year we had some issues with submission, so I kept on top of it this year, with documents ready to submit online months in advance, only holding off submitting them because the system would not allow it so early. As soon as the option should have been available to submit, I tried to. It didn't work. I tried again over the course of the next couple days, and it still didn't work. So I had to get in touch with you directly. You fixed it and submitted it for me. (So it was submitted a day or so late due to problems in YOUR system.) I then checked in with you to make sure it would still move along at the same timescale considering the outbreak of the Coronavirus. You assured me it would and that there would be no difference in service. Just under a week before the 20 business days were due up (and when our current Safe Contractor cert was due to expire), I grew concerned as I had not heard anything from you. I contacted you to ask for an update. You didn't get back to me until a week later, when you told me not to worry, it would be completed within the 20 business days time limit. I informed you that it had now been 22 business days, 23 if you included the day I submitted it. I didn't hear back from that person, but the next day, someone reached out to me for a PRE-audit check. How on earth are you just getting to the PRE-AUDIT when the regular audit should have been completed 4 days earlier at the latest?? They also made contact asking for some things missing, but addressed us as an entirely different company. I assured them I would be happy to help, but wanted to make sure they were actually looking for these things from us and that they hadn't just reached out to the wrong company. They said they got the name wrong on the email they sent me, but they did mean it for me. I sorted the info for them, and they sent back confirmation of accreditation within a couple days. I just don't understand how they can work so fast when they want to, but completely drop the ball so many times leading up to that. We go for this accreditation because the name brings a certain level of value, but the level of customer service has not matched that level. We hope you will do better in the future!

The added cost for a quick turnaround in the assessment process is disappointing. It is perceived as a wheeze by many as a money making exercise and little else. The basic cost of getting accredited is high enough without all these cheesy packages

Submitted the application for the certificate renewal 20 days before the due date. And I have to chase to get feedback about my application. The time proposed by SafeContractor has not been respected and we had to work with an expiry certificate for a while.

I'm personally not a fan of the industry pressure to maintain multiple SSiP's and welcome the day when there is just one industry acceptable standard. The cost involved in doing business is escalating continually, and the SSiP/PAS91 process is just one of the areas that seems like a money making racket, and a very time consuming exercise. Furthermore, when Safe Contractor announced their purchase of EXOR, literally 2 weeks after our company had paid our annual subscription, we were refused any kind or compensation or refund. The only response I got after questioning this was, "well it will be cheaper for you next year" Then, after completing our annual questionnaire update, we were called with an "up-sell offer" to pay even more to get our information reviewed quicker that the estimated 20 days! So, my experience with SafeContractor in particular is not a positive one

We appreciate your frustration about the cost and burden of holding multiple SSIP accreditations, which is why you can get a 20% SafeContractor membership discount if you already hold a SSIP accreditation. Alternatively, you can use your full SafeContractor accreditation to passport to other SSIP accreditation bodies with up to a 77% discount: https://ssip.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Deem-to-Satisfy-Chart-15.08.19.pdf Please also be advised that we have always operated Exor, which is aligned to PAS91, and dissolved Exor and replaced it with SafePQQ in April last year. Following this, you are instead sent SafeContractor accreditation and SafePQQ verification audits and certificates, replacing the the Exor versions you previously held, and this incurs less in membership fees than maintaining your Exor and SafeContractor accreditations separately. Regarding the SafeContractor and SafePQQ audits, our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment.
