Like all H&S it is a task of uploading all the documents to their portal but even after paying extra for express the process took 2 weeks longer than it should have and the pre-checks missed some technical details that should have picked up before the audit.

Thank you for your feedback! The TSO's role is to support contractors gather the majority of the information ready for the auditor to assess. The TSO’s wouldn’t go into the same level of detail as the auditor so the auditor may pick up some discrepancies within the documents they are assessing. The TSO's role is to simply support the contractor with the type of documentation the auditor would like to see. We are in the process of amending this process and we’re aiming at getting all the relevant documentation upfront prior to the file being passed to the auditor. Hopefully on renewal the contractor will have a much better process moving forward. If you have any further queries about how this works then please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team directly.

It was incredibly difficult to navigate and the information requested was above and beyond our usual annual submission. Providing financial information was unnecessary and achieved nothing to the process and asking for references was largely irrelevant as the provision of the submission should have been enough. There were IT issues that meant we had to submit the information twice, creating a lot of unnecessary work. The entire process was lengthy and it is felt that we gain little benefit from accreditation and will seriously look at other avenues next year.

Dreadful customer service, they make you feel like a leper if you try to stay on the basic package. They left us on stop for nearly a week costing us valuable business even though we supplied all the information nearly a month before our certificate ran out. You can only upload the information less than a month before the certificate is due even though we completed our information months before. They need to drastically change their customer services and understand the pressures Contractors are under. Also even though they can't seem to service Contractors accounts they can constantly send emails asking for payments that aren't due for over 5 months!!!!

Hi City Maintenance UK Ltd, Thank you for your feedback. We truly value the insights we receive from our customers, and in response to your feedback, we've made an improvement. Previously, you could submit the renewal questionnaire 30 days before your expiry date. Now, we've extended that window to 60 days before expiry, giving you an additional 30 days to complete the submission. We hope this change makes a positive difference as you prepare for next year! Best regards, SafeContractor

expensive, hassle unless you have a certified trade, not very understanding, dosen't generate us any more work, customers still need copies of all documents as unable to access them through safecontractor

Information recently uploaded is now being requested again, as though our company is large enugh for someone to be doing this full time. No explanation provided as to why this information has been "removed" and is now needing to be uploaded again following our accreditation.

Progressing our renewal with you via one member of staff and reducing outstanding actions to 2 I recall. Then a Safecontractor colleague took over our application and increased the number of outstanding tasks to 6. This set me back and added a significant delay to complete the tasks. I explained my concerns regarding this matter, but felt such concerns weren’t appreciated.

All staff I speak to on the phone are helpful and efficient. However the process itself is frustrating. It aggravates me each year that you try to make me pay extra for "fast tracking" my renewal. When the questionnaire was made available I submitted it the next day along with all documents, however our accreditation still lapsed for a few days because your auditors took the full "20 working days" before coming back to me to ask me for further documentation. I refuse to pay for fast tracking just because you are being slow and inefficient. You need to meet your own internal deadlines. If the 4 weeks is not sufficient for you to complete the renewal procedure at your end, then perhaps you should make the questionniare available 6 weeks in advance instead.

After the finds where paid the service was terrible. A Massively contradicting information from different assessor. The deem to satisfy service was awful. Nearly all operatives just kept asking for more money to put you through in 2 days even though dis was declined on multiple occasions. If one of our clients didn't specify this SSIP we would be reluctant to do it again.

Portal un-reliable and difficult to use. Often doesn't load. Always a delay in assessment unless you pay to "fasttrack"

The original person that this was assigned to did not return e-mails or phone calls, sent a request for information that had already been provided and ignored responses. I had to ring up and complain and ask for it to be assigned to another person and state that I wanted a note on file to say that the original person it was assigned to was never to be involved with us ever again. Once a new individual was assigned it was dealt with within the week.

Very slow this year, took more than 7 weeks to get the renewal certificate, every single e-mail took 6-7 days to get a response, auditor not available by phone even by her colleagues! I find it outrageous that unless you pay extra for 'fast track' there is NO way to get accredited in time which is shameless exploitation of your position! The new questionnaire is only made available for a short period of time before the old certificate expires, giving contractors no time to complete and not enough time for the assessors to check everything.

The accreditation process this year has taken over four weeks when in the past it has only taken a day or two. I was contacted by someone from Safecontractor and could have paid a lot more money to get accredited quicker. I find this unacceptable as we have paid several hundred pounds more this year for the accreditation anyway - partly due to an additional compulsory section imposed by Safecontractor. We are a very small company and this is a very expensive outlay.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. Our standard audit time taken from all required documents being submitted is 20 working days for a technical officer to review your h&s assessment. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. To make the process faster next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted 30 days before expiry. Regarding upgrades for packages these are offered to have an express audit included or to include assistance from our team of expert IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors then this option is available. Please do contact your account manager to discuss how we can help you regarding the issues you mentioned, so that we can work with you to make the best of your membership for your business.

A bit of a nightmare. After many calls and emails, we established that your IT department couldnt get me on your site to complete the accreditation process. This then had to be done manually which resulted in many more emails and me chasing. I am still unable to get on to the website so I presume that next year I'll have the same problem. The answer to how did I communicate is all 3 options below. When I did speak to people they were very helpful but we were still over a week late in accrediting. The website needs to get sorted, not the customer service.

The whole audit was painfully slow. Also, I am receiving too many unimportant emails, inavaribly these are deleted, thus missing the important ones that need due attention.

The final auditor was amazing Damien. Very helpful but the initial review team were not great it’s taken months to get my accreditation updated and there’s been big lapses in time with poor explanations or none as to why until it was taken over by Damien. My payment dates are now even further out of sync with my accreditation date meaning I’ve paid for months where I wasn’t accredited as it lapsed and safe contractor refuse to harmonise the dates of accreditation and payment. So when my next payment is due for 2022 which will be in sept of this year I will actually already be accredited until may 2022 off the back of sept 2020 payment but they will want the annual payment again in sept months ahead of when actual accreditation runs out which is just daft and not supportive to business at all given the year everyone has had

Timescales not met, email to customer service regarding why ignored! Eventually I had to ring and complain before my application was looked at. Assessor didn’t listen and requested information from me that I had already given which potentially could of held up my application further. Really poor service.

We paid extra to get it sped up only for us to have to wait longer due to a member of staff being on annual leave, we were only informed of this when we rang up to question what was happening

I was generally unhappy with the time it took to review our application. Information that was requested appeared to be repetitive and unnecessary and little if any consideration had been given to the fact that, we had been in the middle of a global pandemic throughout the year.
