I have been completing the Safe Contractor for the last 2 years for the company I work for and each year they always provide me with the guidance and support in which I require.

The renewal process was quite easy to do, simple and straightforward, with good information supplied when requried. The helpdesk were very helpful.

Overall, Safe Contractor provided a straightforward and structured accreditation process, which we found helpful. However, we were disappointed that our newly developed Health and Safety policy was not accepted, despite it being professionally written at significant expense. This was the only downside for us, as we had invested heavily to ensure it met industry standards. Apart from this, the experience was positive, and the platform was user-friendly.

Ordinarily Every year I would have given Safe Contrator 5 stars, Hoever this year thwre was a massive drop in service without expliation or apology. It took over 2 months of me chasing to get our certificate accreditted

Safecontractor give you a very small window in terms of a notification to renew your accreditation, then they inform you your accreditation is going to run out in 2 weeks. They will then contact you saying you can fast track you application for a fee to ensure your accreditation doesnt lapse. This should not happen, an email should be sent out 30 days prior, giving you plenty of time to submit your data.

It is an annual nightmare.... this year I submitted everything 4 weeks before renewal, the portal won't allow any earlier. I was contacted by an auditor a week or so after who was going through our submission and requesting information, apparantly even though we are principal contractor with Constructionline we couldn't use "deem to satisfy". Once we had gone through his hoops, we then were passed to a second auditor who started the process all over again and she wanted different things submitting than the previous auditor, in effect we were audited twice. The time it took between the second auditor requesting information then being out of office for a few days each time meant that our accreditation lapsed. Its all sorted now but each year its an epic, far over and above CHAS or Constructionline.

As a sucessful maintenance contractor we use many differenet accreditation bodies. The safe contractor portal offers smooth uploads and is easy to use, so important in todays busy world! The customer services team is effective and quick to respond. All in All a positive experience.

Process is fine but not sure you really are interested as in most cases our approval is linked to payment as opposed to looking at the information provided.

It is all very confusing for a small contractor and getting mixed and misleading replies didn't help. I found it quite frustrating.
