About Rohan:

Rohan is a much loved and iconic British travel and outdoor clothing brand with a heritage spanning more than four decades. Established by two outdoor enthusiasts in North Yorkshire in 1972, Rohan set out to challenge the status quo. With five founding principles that clothing should always be protective, lightweight, packable, versatile and easy-care, Rohan radically re-thought the way people dressed for the outdoors.

Not sure what the problem is with sizing . Everything used to be fine , now can’t trust the size( label).only way is to visit a shop . But that doesn’t work with sale items . Come on Rohan

These bags are made from a very stiff to material and uncomfortable to wear! They are not a patch on my previous pairs which were comfortable to wear and have lasted for years.

Sizing was ridiculous, the L/XL hat was the size of a bucket and would not fit anyone - i thought i had a large head myself but this is way too big and deep for anyone imo.

I ordered two items from sale catalogue but had to return them as one was too big and the other had a lining which I did not like and was nothing like anything I had bought from Rohan before. The lady in the Norwich store was not very helpful and said they would be getting a lot of returns as the sale catalogue had been sent out. If she had looked at my account she would have seen I have been a regular customer and have bought many item from Rohan. I did not stop in the store and look around as I thought her very rude. Luckily I am going to the Lake District next week and I am sure the sales staff will be much better there. I have never had that problem in Norwich before but will think twice before going there again.

My trusted pair of Rohan Backpacker trousers were virtually falling apart so I decided to order something to replace them. A pair of Pioneer trousers, Pioneer shorts and a pair of Bags. In my experience 99% of men’s trousers these days have a ‘low rise’ cut, meaning they sit more on your hips and have a reduced gusset length. Primarily this is governed by fashion rather than comfort or functionality. I was confident that Rohan wouldn’t be subscribing to any such nonsense, how wrong could I be! I’m an average size 34 inch waist, however the Bags were way too tight and restrictive. Definitely not suitable for wearing all day or walking so they will be returned. Likewise the Pioneer trousers and shorts, I’m interested in comfort rather than fashion. I don’t want my clothing to be anything other than functional! What’s the point of technical fabrics etc if the garments are a poor fit. My Backpacker trousers were fantastic, comfortable, plenty of room and crucially with a high rise fitting that meant they weren’t drifting down my backside! The Pioneer trousers might be ok for going to the shops in etc but I definitely wouldn’t be venturing into the hills in them, way too restrictive. I’m really disappointed, surely these garments are ‘road tested’ under the conditions that they’re intended to be used for? Other brands are the same or even worse, fashion rules over function! I’m not interested in fashion when I’m halfway up a mountain! I’m actually going to have some walking/expedition trousers custom made in order to get a fit that works! As a last resort you haven’t still got a pair of Backpacker trousers somewhere have you?

Due to Rohan on-line shopping not accepting the password they had provided I lost the opportunity to purchase a pair of walking shoes at a a very attractive price. This I regarded as poor service though over the phone a customer service operator did make a goodwill gesture of a £20 voucher against future purchases. This would still make the cost more than the clearance sale price.

I chose the shorts as picture looked they were loose fitting BUT tailored. On receipt, I opened them & they looked per bagging school knickers from 1950’s. Hence I returned & have been fully refunded

I ordered jeans for my wife and we’re traveling. They came in as for retail purposes and we were charged $35.00+ In customs. These were jeans for personal use for my wife! So we paid $25.00 for delivery plus $35.00 - outrageous!

Some of your clothes are acceptable and I do still buy new garments, but others are not to my taste. You are dumbing down, e.g. why does my new shirt have a label inside saying "Happiness is a way of travel, not a destination" Pure twaddle! Who is paid to dream up such rubbish? Some of the trouser legs get narrower by the year which I don't like and suspect is done to save on material. Also, I prefer pockets at the side of the trousers and not the front. Also, why do I get an email from you almost every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday? Do you really think I want 150+ emails from you every year? I would unsubscribe, but then I would miss out on the small handful that are useful, e.g. when there is a money off voucher or a note of the new season range. About 4 - 6 emails a year would be sufficient. I look forward to seeing my comments appear on your website without my name attached to them.

I have been buying Rohan since your first shop opened in I think Yorkshire. I have a lot of your clothes in my wardrobe. Quality is the issue - we recently returned two merino items my wife bought - fabric was poor. Good service from Rohan however when I complained. The trousers I bought with this order are not stitched with great care. Looking at the labels the common factor that lets Rohan down is "Made in China". At Rohan's price point - even at sale prices - you must keep up the quality and it seems Chinese manufacture can not do that. For me I probably will only continue buying if I know where the item is manufactured before I order.

M size much looser and ill-fitting than previously. Bought in sale otherwise would have returned the t-shirt.

I purchased the Dry Frontier trousers following a recommendation by a friend. The quality seems very good although I've yet to put them through their paces. However, having purchased these in the sale I was very disappointed to find the same product 2 weeks later discounted a further 20%. As a consequence, I'll be very wary of making future purchases in the Rohan sale.

I have bought Rohan clothing for many many years, bought my first pair of winter bags back in the late 80s I think, I still have a shirt it must be 25 years old I wear in the summer. Never had issues with delivery, returns, refunds. But I am know trying to change my shopping habits in these days of enviromental issues. I bought a pair of Amblers, the label says 95% polyester, to much, also a pair of the Merino wool mens boxers, both items bought in the sale, prices of there items are very expensive too, they contain polyester too. Thats to much plastic. Why is everything made in china, one of the biggest country with the worst pollution issues. I am sure the Rohan clothing I have will last me years, but sadley will not be buying there products in future.

I returned two purchases as I found the quality so poor compared with earlier year. I bought a fleece 20 years ago which is still warm but the zipp has gone. The trousers had no zipp on or fastening.

Following a number of e mail communications with Rohan, I felt obliged to send one with the following : Hello again, and thanks for the reply. I would just like to comment, for your further information, this was only the second time the jacket had been washed, and we had noticed it was 'wetting out' a while ago. It has never been exposed to anything anywhere near 20,000 hh ! The jacket was washed exactly as per the Rohan website instructions. The jacket has a loose lining as well as whatever waterproof bonding on the outer surface of the jacket. So it is not possible to see the waterproof membrane. I have numerous other Rohan articles, dating back about 30 years, as has my wife, including waterproofs which, according to your definition, are probably U/S now ! We bought items because of their quality, and believing they would give many years service. However, we have felt that Rohan, perhaps because of changes of ownership, were becoming more of a fashion conscious, disposable outfitter, rather than a serious outdoor outfitter. Nowhere in Rohan publicity, online or otherwise, does it state that the waterproofs will have a useful lifetime of up to 5/6 years. 'Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware ! I will, of course, share such knowledge where useful. I would have given 2 1/2 stars if possible, because of the general quality and longevity of previous Rohan purchases, which I happily use to this day, especially trousers. But I would only say 'God Help You' if you thought of venturing up serious British uplands in the waterproof jackets, let alone Everest, as was claimed in some of the original Rohan literature. viz re 1978 "Alpinists were hard task masters. Garment failure was not an option. Rohan learnt the trade in a hard school. Rohan’s answer was Windlord Fabric. A fabric developed by and only available from Rohan in the late 1970s.' Used climbing Everest ! So, I have a loyalty to Rohan, but it will not be unquestioning henceforth. Caveat Emptor.

I returned an order recently as it became clear that the items were made in China. In view of the repressive and undemocratic nature of the ruling C C P, you should reconsider where you source your products. Continuing to trade with them provides them with legitimacy and sustains them in their brutal disrespect for basic human rights.
