About Rohan:

Rohan is a much loved and iconic British travel and outdoor clothing brand with a heritage spanning more than four decades. Established by two outdoor enthusiasts in North Yorkshire in 1972, Rohan set out to challenge the status quo. With five founding principles that clothing should always be protective, lightweight, packable, versatile and easy-care, Rohan radically re-thought the way people dressed for the outdoors.

Really not worth buying anything at full price as everything is heavily discounted during the seemingly endless sales. I have lots of Rohan clothes but personally refuse to pay the overinflated prices until these happen. Come on Rohan just price your clothing competitively to start with?

Great Gear. BUT ... It's Outdoorsy clothing for Indoorsy people. When will Rohan stop using that crappy nylon netting like material for lining their sleeves and pockets. It snags on hands that have any hint of rough skin.

Voucher system just does not work - previous one £40 apparently just has expired (twelve month time limit in smallest of print - very nice indeed, how pleasant to find this out when trying to buy online), as a gift... Current one (£50, purchased by my wife about a month ago), just tried to buy jacket in the sale - mysteriously, the £50 amount showed, then instantaneously disappeared. Now `locked/expired`.... The poorest and most cynical way of gouging money from customers given as `gift`. The `gift that just keeps on giving` - to Rohan. Do not buy vouchers. A long standing and now angry customer - David Gill at gilldglg@aol.com .

ROHAN - I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with them. Been using for @10 years now. Some things work very well (DWP waterproofing system is very good on lightweight jackets-far superior to Goretex Paclite). Generally the jumpers (Polyester works well - Merino wool not so good). Trousers (3 types currently being used) - Good cut, and wear well. Silver T Tee shirts - wear well BUT they stain (sweat and general marks) so easily and can only be used one day at a time, which I consider unacceptable when travelling. Underwear - very strange sizing and fit (but has improved in recent years) However the 'Hate' bit: COST - I honestly believe that ALL Rohan stuff is AT LEAST 20% OVERPRICED and often equal or better quality and fit can be obtained from other manufacturers (I won't name them here) FIT - ordering on line is dangerous with ROHAN: unless you KNOW the precise sizing that fits you. I have had so much stuff that I have ordered in 'my size' and found it to be simply WRONG. Even 'in shop' I have had to change sizing to get it to fit. Staff Product Knowledge (I read in the reviews that the staff are very knowledgeable), Having used 5-6 Rohan shops around the country I simply CANNOT agree with this. They are very polite and good at telling you how good the product is (platitudes) but (upon use) the product has sometimes been very poor in use. When questioned on technical issues about the item, I have found them seriously lacking (Mind you MOST chain outdoor shops are poor in this respect).

I have shopped at a few Rohan outlets, but the Keswick shop stands head and shoulders above the rest. In fact, a wind shirt I bought from Rohan at least 30 years ago is now framed and displayed as one of the "blasts from the past" on the Keswick shop walls. The big problem with Rohan is that it lasts so long I am still regularly wearing Christmas presents from 25 years ago. I use the word "problem" lightly.

Ordered the LBD Luna size 14, although normally a 12. Prompt delivery. Only just a little large. Rohan kindly agreed to send a 12 before I returned the other. No problems. Size 12 perfect fit (true to size). £90 well spent it’s simplicity reeks quality. Highly recommended.

Last Spring I used the Rohan repair service for my approx 13 year old ´Daybreakˋ down jacket. It’s main zip had broken. I was very pleased that this service was available. The repair was quality workmanship, done in good time, and at a reasonable price. This, in my view, is really good service from Rohan! To repair an old jacket is environmentally friendly, but maybe not commercially favourable to Rohan - I might have expected to have to buy a new jacket after 13 years use. So, 5* to Rohan for great service! I think I’m set up now for a few more Daybreak years!

Generally I can’t fault Rohan, but unfortunately the parcel containing 10 items was under pressure & burst under pressure. Emergency tape wrapped round it to keep everything together. Very disappointing. See photo below.

Sorry Rohan, I am a long-standing convert to the quality and design of your clothing (see my account) but the new microgrid half-zip is a backward step. I have three of these tops (size L) and tried on the new colour/design in the shop: the sleeves were unnecessarily and potentially annoyingly longer (already ample) but the thing is I simply could not get the sleeves on over a shirt. What's the point if you can't get the garment on? The assistant (for the record, in Guildford store, whilst visiting relations) was uninterested in my feedback. He explained that the sleeve had changed to a raglan design (not an issue) but he was not aware of any change in the length and narrowness of the sleeve. Happily wearing a previous design of the same garment, I said I couldn't get the new version on. As I say, he was dismissive. By the way, why can't I post this review directly on the item itself?

I recently purchased an Elite jacket. I cannot believe anyone could design such an ill fitting hood. I have tried everything to stop it covering my eyes. If I use the draw strings which adjust at the rear it clings to my head and is too uncomfortable to wear and still works its way down over my eyes. I went in to your shop in Ambleside for help. The assistant was very helpful, he tried another jacket and adjusted the hood. It felt a little better, so he exchanged the jacket. However when using it on walks it was no better. I have had numerous jackets, some quite cheap, with far superior fitting hoods. It is very disappointing after spending, what is for me, a lot of money to be stuck with something I will be reluctant to wear.

Visited Edinburgh store on Sunday. Was trying on a jacket when approached by male assistant who said they were closing in 5 minutes and he would hang the jacket back up for me taking it out of my hand. There were 3 other people shopping in the store at the time. I have lots of Rohan products. This was a £100+ genuine lost sale.

Although living in Australia for the past 10 years I have bought all of my clothes from Rohan. I have been very happy with the all the items. As I'm between 36 and 38 buying trousers is awkward as the style and cut of the trousers varies so buying on line is a bit hit and miss. (Just makes me lose a few kilos) I have always found email enquiries to be promptly and helpfully answered. I was somewhat disappointed though the first time I visited the London store by the indifference of the staff. May I suggest that Rohan stops describing colours as "coal" and clearly advertise it's payment and workers conditions for those who make their garments in Vietnam?

Like their clothing; practical and stylish. I would have given them 5* if they did a petite range, as dresses and shirts are made for women taller than I (5' 2"). Michelle and the other staff at the Kingston store are always friendly and helpful. Always worth shopping at the Souk...!

They have really well made, highly functional, light weight clothing. I have been buying Rohan stuff for perhaps 20 years and have rarely if ever been disappointed. My fairly minor criticisms are: some of the prices are a bit steep (but there are fairly frequent sales); they don't do enough for fat men - I am one, and I still exercise quite a bit, including hill walking and cycling. Roll on the Rohan Braces for the man whose waist is a distant memory!

I have been a customer for many years and feel it is time to give some honest feedback. I have always willingly paid a little bit more for quality items. However having just tried to buy some trousers it seems all styles are now skinny legged and narrow at the bottom hem. What happened to boot cut? It seems the changes are more of a fashion statement rather that anything practical. Comparing my action jeans to the current range, I won't be bothering in future.

Excellent helpful staff for over at least 20 years, and I still have wearable Rohan clothing bought many years ago (and it still fits) ! I would buy more often if it were a bit less expensive. In terms of your marketing strategy, maybe you need to widen your customer base to include older people who would apreciate your quality but may be are not "outdoor" people? My latest buy at aged 80, are your insulated blue denim jeans which are just ideal for both warmth and smartness. One other slight negative are the rather drab range of colours, sadly all to common to many mens retailers. A response from you would be apreciated if at all possible.

I have been buying Rohan clothing since they started; Bags were about £16 a pair! My most recent purchase is a Dry Delta jacket. Whilst I like it, I think Rohan may be losing their way in terms of functionality. For instance, the adjustable cuffs are not adjustable; they are either buttoned small or unbuttoned. In the past they would have had velcro so that they could be adjusted properly. Another example would be the Wind Shadow jacket. I have the first version where the adjustable cuff tabs are made from the same fabric as the rest of the jacket. In the new version the tabs are made from what feels like a plastic material. My nephew has one and the tab has snapped. He uses the jacket as a spring/autumn jacket and has it packed in his back pack. Whilst I love Rohan clothing for its longevity and quality, I feel they may be straying away from their original functionality ethos.

In my opinion the quality of the outdoor wear is slowly reducing...but the price does not reduce! Best value is to buy in the sales or offers when available. Happy to buy at the right price!

Excellent clothing for walking and travelling. I’ve worn Rohan for 40 years and it’s well worth the money. They cannot be beaten for lightweight breathable clothing imo. Great for when you’re on holiday as you can wash stuff as many times as you need. Great choice of clothing nowadays too.
