We tried contacting them to ask questions about their cruise offerings. Most of the times, the answering service would cut off without being able to speak to somebody. The two times we got through they both said they would have to get back to us and then no one ever called back. Their prices are excellent but their customer service is dreadful Avoid wasting you time, look elsewhere.

Our agent was very efficient and the booking was simple and quick, however we have not received any documents in t regards to the booking so i am unable to score if I had she would have got 4 out of five stars

On reading other reviews, we cancelled our cruise in June for Oct 2020 and wanted to rebook for Oct 2021. We were offered a credit voucher from Scenic. The prices had gone up £1000 so haven't rebooted it yet but I see others have got it for the same price.

Very very disappointed to have learnt today that a Rivervoyages agent with whom I spoke to this afternoon completely misled me. The actual cruise booking made through this company suspended the cruise on the 4th November and notified agents to contact their customers with view to re-fund, re-book or voucher. This has not been forwarded to the customer and totally misled me during our telephone conversation today. At less than 8days to our departure I do wonder when or if they intended informing me. It was only by going directly to the cruise company that I learnt the truth. That rep of Riviera travel has given me permission to forward the screenshot of our live chat. I tried to telephone Rivervoyages at 4.40pm to be told the company was closed. Very strange when website advertises hours between 9 am to 7pm.

I am still waiting to hear officially from RiverVoyages that our Christmas Markets river cruise will not be proceeding. We are due to be travelling in 10 days time with Riviera travel booked through you and no one has had the courtesy to contact me to say otherwise. I have phoned several times but have given up after being on the line (at my expense) for many minutes.

My Viking cruise was cancelled but Rivervoyages did not let me know and I was only made aware by a third party. I have emailed them on several occasions but have never had the basic courtesy of a reply. I have also telephoned on many occasions but have either been cut off or failed to get a staff member. I fear i will have to resort to legal proceedings to have my money returned

Should have travelled with River Voyages for the holiday of a lifetime on 13/03/20 Received a telephone call from them just as we were leaving the house to travel to Heathrow for our flight out the next day to be told that they were advising us not to travel as there would be problems with immigration at our destination and that we would not be entitled to a full refund as the cruise section of the holiday was still going ahead! This changed the following day when all travel in Vietnam and Cambodia was cancelled. No one contacted us I had to contact the cruise line myself to be told that I was entitled to a full refund. I have tried numerous time to speak to someone at river voyages with regard to this but have only succeeded in getting through on one occasion to be told it is in hand. Since then we have heard nothing not even an progress e mail. Today I have tried again to contact the team via telephone on all the available appropriate numbers. You get so far through the usual recorded message then they cut you off. Not good in any way shape or form. We have travelled with them in the past and had nothing but praise, not anymore

Well, it's been almost 2 months since we made our final cruise payment, and River Voyages (first time we'd used RV) seems unable to provide anything showing that our payment was actually sent by RV to Amadeus and received by Amadeus. Now, we're less than 60 days before the cruise, and we have nothing showing we're actual valid fully-paid confirmed passengers. MANY emails to RV, and we're just told "they've requested" confirmation of payment. What, they don't receive confirmation when they make a payment to a cruise company? Of course they receive confirmation! We're very concerned.

We are a very reputable company and have won several awards over the years, We are fully ABTA bonded for your reassurance. As you can see from our review website we have an average rating of 4.79 out of 5. We have a contract with Amadeus and pay them on a statement basis, so this is why we can not provide you with an Amadeus receipt. However I can see you have received confirmation from ourselves showing that you have paid in full. You will receive your cruise tickets in due course normally around 10 days before you travel. We have booked our travels previously with River Voyages, both for European and Far East cruise Holidays. We have been very happy and satisfied with the services we received. I would have rated 5*for our previous bookings. So this time round when my husband and I wanted to do the irrywady cruise in Myanmar in December 2018, to celebrate my husbands birthday, I contacted River Voyages. However this time round I have been totally dissatisfied. Initially I was offered the bookings for hotels in Yangon and Mandaly and irrywady cruise in between. Total 14 days trip's itenirary was sent to me. All sounded satisfactory on inspection and so I confirmed my booking and paid the money in full, total of £8950. However after withdrawing the money from my bank the agent came back to me saying that she cannot confirm the hotel bookings in both places Yangon and Mandaly. Hence I should hold on booking my flights, as hotels cannot be garunteed yet and it may take 8 to 10 days to confirm. This was totally unexpected as I do not think it is fair to take the money but not give the garuntee of hotel bookings. I wanted to cancel my trip as I did not want to stay in separate hotels from the other cruise members either. I asked for my money back. This is when I was informed that no money will be refunded. In this instance there has been total lack of transparency and the agent wanted to quickly seal the deal without checking the hotel availabilities. I was misled and I did not expect this from River Voyages. After a lot of arguments, finally I have received a mail to say that hotels have been booked now. But this has left a bitter after taste and it has spoilt our holiday mood. I will have to go now with River Voyages as it is a lot of money for us to loose as we both are pensioners. However I am not happy because I was mislead. I am sure this will not be supported by ATOL ABTA etc i. e. misleading customers.

It is always disappointing when we receive negative feedback. We are profusely sorry if you feel dissatisfied and mislead .That is certainly not our intention. This is especially upsetting after you have received 5 * service from us previously. caught today's Sundat Times advert but despite giving specific cruise (PARIS/PARIS 15/08/17) not an online deck/cabin plan and single/doubles cost to be seen - so gave up looking/booking.

I booked a trip on Avalon (Ref. ES122-81042) via yourselves. During this booking I was given NO indication of the fact that the ship had various types of cabin. This was the first time I have been involved with river cruising and I relied entirely on phone information from your agent, though I did look up some details on the internet from which I learnt that cabins had wall to wall windows. When I boarded the ship in Amsterdam on 21/12 I realised my cabin only head high level windows, for the only view possible I had to stand up - my expectation of being able to take some rest whilst sitting on the bed and enjoying the passing views was impossible. When I talked with the tour manager about this he was sympathetic but declined responsibility as I had booked via an agent and not direct. I did complain in writing to Avalon but received a similar response from their Emma Thompson (Customer Services). This all leaves m very disillusioned - I really hoped to have found a new way of travel which suited my needs, and which was suited to my age and abilities. I still believe I have the right of some compensation from either yourselves and/or Avalon; in it's absence I shall look to other River Cruise companies. As per our recent correspondence the D grade cabin was the only cabin available to yourself at the time of booking. You had checked Avalon's website prior to booking & agreed to the category of cabin.Therefore I believe that we haven't miss sold your River Cruise Holiday. Customer Relations Manager

Very confusing and frustrating booking process. No one seems to actually know what holidays are available.Having booked one room suddenly it wasn't available,we then made a substantial upgrade on the basis that a particular cabin was available but in fact it took a couple of weeks before we knew whether we had secured that cabin. Staff (cruise concierge !) whom I guess are telephone home workers, were less than helpfull and I felt that we were simply presented with take it or leave it options. And the confusion over the date for final settlement did not leave us feeling good. The cruise company asks for full payment 3 months before the holiday starts (which I think is quite onerous) but River Voyages suddenly asked us to pay 5 months in advance and were quite difficult when we resisted - not least because there is absolutely nothing on their website or anywhere else to suggest that this is part of the deal. We are virgin river cruisers and are now quite fearfull of what the actual cruise will turn out to be like. Hopefully the cruise company is simply badly served by its agent.

Your company cancelled our cruise on the 22nd. December despite payment being made by ourselves on the 3rd. December. This left us with no time to sort out an alternative. The cruise line were not impacted. Your company lost £100. Our New Year holiday was completely ruined by the incompetence of your finance department and the excuse given that they did not understand the cruise line's payment terms beggars belief. We still await a response from your managing director.

River Voyages just seem to be good at marketing once they have taken your deposit they really don't seem to care.Quite honestly their handling of the administration to conclude the booking of the holiday I booked was extremely unprofessional.To make sure the Holiday was booked correctly I dealt directly with Riviera Travel the Holiday provider who were extremely helpful.
