“I am submitting this feedback late, as it relates to events from May 2024.
I initially spoke with Redmans solicitor, to explain my situation at work and the grievance I had raised, which was not upheld. I asked for advice on how to appeal the grievance outcome. My case was then referred to Alex Hodson, a senior solicitor.
Unfortunately, I experienced very poor communication from AH. Before submitting the grievance, she spent no meaningful time discussing my case with me. When I called, she told me she was busy, and later emailed saying she was in the middle of an important deadline.
I sent her a summary of my work situation, but without any consultation or advice, she submitted a grievance that was of poor quality and focused on events that had happened two years prior to the date she raised it. Some of the information included was incorrect. She also did not give me an opportunity to review the grievance before it was sent, even though I was unwell at the time.
I felt that, as a solicitor, her actions made my work situation worse. In my experience, she appeared to prioritise payment over the quality of service. I felt that, because of my health and vulnerability at the time, my situation was not taken seriously, despite the fact that I paid for her professional services.”
“I approached Redmans after learning about imminent redundancy and an potentially unfair procedure. There was also a claim of disability discrimination which may have been connected to this. I was not advised to raise a grievance or to officially challenge my redundancy terms, which were changed at the last minute without proper consultation. I did not consider the fees were too high for the lawyers time and so continued on to what I felt was a legitimate claim for early settlement, but did feel that the cost advised for a further no win no fee assessment was on the high side. Only after a deep dive of personal research and consulting another lawyer, did I discover my claim was undermined by the lack of these 2 pivotal actions. I have now had to drop all claims and cease any legal action against my former company and feel incredibly let down by Redmans. I feel my limited resources were wasted on this company and will be following this up with an official complaint to Redmans and, if necessary, the LeO”
“I engaged with Redman Solicitors to assist with negotiating my settlement offer. Despite two rounds of negotiations, they were unable to secure an increase in the severance amount. Additionally, despite my providing evidence of unfair performance assessments and the uncertain work environment I faced, this evidence was not utilized in the negotiation process.
Apart from this, I faced significant challenges in simply getting in touch with them after signing the contract. Each time I needed an update or clarification, it required multiple calls or emails to receive a response—definitely not the level of service I would expect after paying a premium for their expertise.
In hindsight, I feel that the approach taken was not as strategic or rigorous as I had expected.”
“As a client with a very small case I cannot say that my experience was satisfactory.
I reached out to Redmans Solicitors to review and help me finalize a redundancy contract. Initially, the solicitor I was assigned to signed the contract with a wrong date in the future, which I had to make her aware of.
Secondly, our agreement specifically mentioned that I could get back to Redmans for a following question after signing the contract, with costs being sent to my previous company. This is a term we had discussed and agreed with the solicitor. Unfortunately, when I got back to her with a question, she refused to answer unless I paid a consultant fee in advance. I tried to remind her that this was part of our agreement, but unfortunately at this point she had decided not to read my emails and I was left without any means to actually finalize my case.
The whole handling of my case appeared as very unprofessional to me and I definitely do not recommend Redmans for such small cases.”
“I am really confused as to why I am being hounded for a review.
I contacted Redmans in November 2022 and was told they would take on my case as a no win no fee. I sent through all the documents requested and was advised on 22/12/22 by Chris Hadrill that he was drafting my letter and that it would be sent through ASAP. I then never heard anything from them again until 02/07/24 when I received an email to state that my matter had been concluded and is was their pleasure to assist?
At what was an extremely stressful and difficult time in my life, Redmans added more unnecessary stress by not responding to my emails and several telephone calls and messages I left them going into January of 2023.
I would not recommend Redmans to anyone who would be working as a no win no fee case as I can only assume that they prioritise these cases last.
I wish I had read previous reviews and done some more research before contacting Redmans to help me.”
“Poor communication, poor result.
Redmans came recommended through a friend. They were hard to get hold of and I believe I spoke to 3 people to be allocated someone to work on my case. They put a letter together and submitted it, but the employer refused to engage and at the first push back, Redmans gave up and walked away. They never followed up on any of their own arguments or defended the position in general. So my conclusion is they either lied in the first place about the case having any merit (but where willing to take the money), or couldn’t be bothered to fight it through.
Either way, I couldn’t recommend this service.
Better to go through ACAS, which is a free service (and has to be used in any case in order to go to a tribunal) and in my case and got better results.
The only bonus was that the person who handled my case was a nice person and polite.”

“My experience wasn't a great one. Advice given itself was fine but the communication was honestly poor with the last contact I had before receiving the bill being that the solicitor assisting me was running late for our call which had been prearranged and would call me in ten minutes, following which I never heard from him again until I got the bill. Given this experience, I wouldn't recommend.”
Thank you for your review, and we are of course disappointed that you were not satisfied with the service that you received in your matter. If you would like to discuss this further please email your details and feedback to feedback@redmans.co.uk
“After recently being made redundant, I reached out to Redmans for help with the settlement. Initial contact was very good. Polite, positive and quick to respond. Once the process was underway, the communication was very poor. I did everything my end, sending relevant information as soon as possible. However, with the deadline approaching, I was chased by my employers to ask where my lawyer was as no contact had been made. This delayed the negotiations and certainly did nothing to improve a very unsatisfactory outcome. When requesting some clarity on the situation, the lawyer was rude, condescending and confrontational, showing no humility during what was a very stressful and difficult situation”
