“I use newlenses.co.uk all the time now. After an eye operation left me unable to wear contact lenses, I grudgingly began wearing glasses. Ordinarily, at my prescription, a pair of glasses would cost around £100 for the frame and easily £200-300 for the lenses. Not having that kind of money to hand, I scouted about for cheaper alternatives online. I chose newlenses.co.uk as they had a good range of options, their prices were very competitive, the website was reassuringly robust and takes PayPal (which makes a big difference to me) and most of all they offered a service to put lenses into existing frames. I initially enjoyed choosing maybe three or four inexpensive frames online, and then fitting lenses. Since then I've had all sorts of lenses made up, including one pair that turn into sunglasses in the sun (and the car!) varifocals, tinted and various strengths for reading, computer work, driving etc. The quality of the lenses is always top notch (and I mean, flawless). As my prescription is so huge, I sometimes have to wait a little longer, but I'm always kept informed and it is always worth the wait. The lenses are often let down by the frames, but newlenses have always been happy to give it another go with the same lenses if I can find a replacement pair, or fix screws or whatever. I sometimes send in a broken pair along with a new purchase and they do what they can. In short, for the price of a single pair of glasses off the high street (which I may not even especially like) I now have several in frames and lenses that suit me. I have the freedom of choice of several pairs for different uses, clothing or even weather! And I'm always on the lookout for more. I have a few pairs from a Korean manufacturer that I particularly like, in fact! All said, I'm actually enjoying wearing glasses again, and that's worth more than a price tag.”
