Unfortunately I did not get a good experience with Mortage light. I was dealing with James and I got my emails and phone calls were ignored. I was really disappointed and tried to be understanding. I would not recommend this company.

Unfortunately I did not get a good experience with Mortage light. There was hardly any time I got through to my broker when I needed to and the communication was terrible too. I was dealing with James and I got my emails ignored. I was really disappointed and tried to be understanding. It’s all about the money for this company. Even though nothing was completed for me and after the stress I was forced to pay for no service. There are better brokers that will server and help you better, please save your self the stress.

Dear Aneetah, It is disappointing to hear you were not satisfied with the service level you received. As you are aware, James put a lot of extra work into your case to ensure you could secure your home. James has worked for Mortgage Light for over 7 years and is an asset to the firm, being extremely professional and always going above and beyond. As you know, even though you had decided to instruct another firm to assist you with your mortgage and despite you signing your agreement of instruction for us to proceed with your application, we did offer to assist with your fee. We have tried to contact you on several occasions and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you further to see if we can help so please do get in touch at your convenience. We wish you the best of luck with your new broker. Best regards Siobhan Holbrook - director Mortgage Light Ltd

There are so many good reviews of mortgage light on here that I decided to use them to help me with my mortgage. At first the conversation with Michael was very helpful and he advised what would be needed. Once I got all of the required paperwork over to him (the same day), I waited over a week to hear from him again. I chased to then be told he was still looking at possible lenders. A few days later I chased again to be told he had gone on holiday for 10 days and his colleague informed me that he'd forgotten to tell me information regarding the mortgage in principle. On his return it took him 2 further days to contact me. I have since waited a further week from him to tell me whether the mortgage in principle had been approved. I have complained to his manager (the owner of mortgage light, Siobhan) and she has not returned my calls or responded to my emails. Enough was enough so I contacted a different company and Samantha wheeler managed to get me a mortgage in principle within 5 hours of me contacting her. Genuinely haven't received such poor customer service from a company before and I literally never complain but I'm actually disgusted at how I've been treated my mortgage light.

I recently conducted 2 re-mortgages with Mortgage Light. One of them took about 3 months to complete and an extensive amount of work to gather information. I have done multiple re-mortgages before so when I say extensive it was extensive. The service was poor with sending my personal data off to the wrong place (a data breach). Forgetting to progress my second mortgage transaction (causing me a loss of money as the mortgage lapsed into the higher rate). Staff being on holiday when I tried to contact them to progress things. Only when I started to complain did I start to gain traction. They then threatened to refer me to a debt collection agency when I did not pay immediately (was trying to do the mortgage documents). This was the second time that I have used Mortgage Light. The first time I had a great experience but that was a few years ago. Now I am going to avoid this company.

Very unprofessional. James promised a call back appt today with me. Never called back. I took unpaid time off work to accommodate it. Very disappointed

This process was the longest and most frustrating we have ever had, James had took weeks to get a second application going after the Halifax one didn’t pull through which meant we had even further delays on your end. We contacted many times and found it difficult to get responses. There was a huge lack of communication. The second application to accord was not even communicated to us until we kept calling to find out what was happening. Then the third application for barclays had come through and it was for 5 years fixed when we specifically asked for 2 years fixed. We are still waiting for him to get back to us on what the penalty would be if we want to rent the property out after a few years. Still no response.

We were pushed to use Mortgage Light through our shared ownership association so went ahead and contacted and scheduled a meeting. In this meeting they had other clients paperwork, bank statements and payslips sitting in front of us all named and addressed that were a 'mistake'. He then had to go and print the ones we had emailed over to him a week prior. Then our payslips and bank statements were gone through in a investigation/interview like manor. With 90% of our outgoings questioned - even things like gym memberships. The next stage was the mortgage application, this is when the communication became extremely poor. We were told that it would be 'unlikely to be accepted' after the mortgage adviser's own decision to withhold certain information off the declaration. We were put through stress and fear for weeks with very little communication and no answers. It got to the stage we actually called and spoke to the mortgage lender to get answers, and they told us that the situation had been dramatized and that it was nothing that could not be rectified. Once the mortgage was finally offered we were then told about a fee of £375 we had to pay to them, which is unheard of for a mortgage adviser. What the fee is for Mortgage light had given us all of the wrong information (mortgage term and rate). and still continue to chase us with an expiry date that does not exist. Would NOT recommend

We were interrogated over our outgoings and why we would pay for what we pay for. Throughout, there was a lack of communication to the point where i lost communication entirely with the advisor and was working through P.A's. It then got to the point where i found myself contacting the mortgage lender directly to receive updates and answers. Secondly the mortgage advisor unprofessionally didn't declare certain outgoings to the lender almost causing us to lose the offer. I found a lack of quality control and care. Furthermore, we found ourselves in a meeting overlooking other peoples finances and bank statements before we rectified and corrected the advisor that they in fact weren't ours. As well as this, i later found that we paid mortgage light a fee that they collect from the mortgage company and shouldn't through the consumer. Throughout the experience i was made to feel inadequate and cut off. Congratulations to the P.A's who fulfilled their role and went further. Would advise not to use.

Pressured for more money than what we had. Process of buying a house and using a financial advisor was not explained to us at all. Sort of saved by the fincial advisor that took over who was lovely and helpful, however when we received our final bill for the purchase of our property it was 2k over our budget. Again costs were included that mortgage light should have told us were there. They knew our budget for the purchase of the house and legal costs and this went way over. Will never use them again and will advise others to stay clear also.

Asked for a advise on mortgage but I have never receive a answer. 2 months later the owner of Mortgage Light phoned and I have explained that I have been ignored and she has assure me that I am a valued customer and someone will contact me. No contact and after another 2 month they phoned me to sell me a life insurance. Waste of time!
