"**Barbour Beacon Jacket**\r\n\r\n I had posted this under the jacket, but will post it here as well.\r\n\r\nFirst off, I want to say that my experience with this company has been BEYOND pleasant. Their customer service and responses are incredibly rapid, to the point I received responses within minutes every time. The shipping was incredibly fast, I received my package (From England to California) in only 3 days. While I had my hesitations about the initial purchase, the product was true and legitimate with all tags and labels, and a price better than could be believed. Even with my hesitation on sizing, the customer service was willing to measure the different jackets for me and allow me to make changes to my order accordingly. \r\n\r\nBarbour Beacon Jacket-\r\nAs for the jacket itself, everything you read about this jacket online is true. The sizing on this is incredibly tricky, with a slim chest and the sleeves riding high in the armpit, choosing the right size is difficult. I have noticed that as the size increases so do the sleeve lengths. The sleeves will run slightly down over your hand with this being an outdoor style jacket. The jacket does appear to have a plastic liner underneath the plaid fabric to help with waterproofing, but it can make the interior of the jacket fairly-warm and humid. I would not wear additional or thick layers under this jacket, especially with the tightness in the armpits. \r\n\r\nSizing- \r\nI\u2019m currently 5\u201911\u201d, weigh 185lbs, 42\u201d chest, 34\u201d waist, and have an athletic build. I purchased the LARGE. \r\nWhat they say about this jacket is true about going up a size. All my other regular day-to-day jackets are medium, with this I went with a LARGE and it fits appropriately. However, if you have a more athletic or muscular build (with increased chest, back, or shoulder muscles), you will find the jacket to be a bit binding in the arms upon reaching forward (pictured). I found rotating my shoulders and hiking the jacket up a bit higher helps to combat this. If you are near my size yet more of a barrel-chested individual or someone whose body doesn\u2019t taper to the waist, an XL would probably serve you better. In the midriff, the jacket fits like that of a suit jacket, but is not tight or restricting. While for my shoulders I would have preferred an XL (See the tightness in the back when arms brought forward), I know the rest of the jacket would have been far too large for my frame. I have also noticed that with the triangular patch holding the jacket closed, the neck can get a bit tight with forward or bending motion. Some individuals have had some success tailoring this jacket, but the tailors in my region refuse to touch it for skill reasons, and even recommending keeping the large and that I would be dissatisfied with the XL. So if you purchase this with the intent of modification, be warned it may be more difficult or costly than you think. \r\n\r\nOverall, the jacket is beautiful and well made, with great attention to detail given. It is a classic-looking jacket that I\u2019m happy to finally have in my collection and glad that I went with Michael Stewart Menswear to purchase it."

“I received my coat for Xmas that was too small, a return was requested on Jan 4th but as I live in the US they only just received the return and are now refusing to refund the money. It also took a very long time to get a response on their return process”

In response to your review Mr Krett, we sent an email stating that only a credit note or exchange could be offered. Your order wasn't shipped back to us until 4 weeks after the date you mentioned, and 1 week after the final return date. The order was placed in October of 2018 and didn't arrive back with us until now (Feb 2019) This was more than 2 weeks over the final date for refunds, for items ordered for Christmas, from International customers, which is stated throughout our site, and on the returns notes. We responded promptly at all times and emails were not answered, unfortunately. Thank you.

Thank you for your review. We shall take this on board going forward into 2019. We are currently looking at providing a cheaper 48 hour service for baskets with the total under £50. However the item you purchased was over £75 (in our winter sale) so we needed to send it on a service that included insurance just in case. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Sales Team

“Website and confirmation invoice confirmed next day delivery. The delivery company then advised next working day. When I raised this with Michael Stewart they said it was normal for online retailers to do this, and it was my mistake to assume that next day delivery meant they would deliver next day. Will not buy from them again.”

Dear Mr Caton, Once again, we apologize for this mess. Please accept our most sincere apology. As mentioned before, there was a rare computer glitch that resulted in the system stating that we did indeed have stock of the items you purchased when we actually didn't. Although we had the jacket, it shouldn't of been on stock due to it being faulty. We completely understand how disappointed and disgruntled you feel about your experience with us. We always try to ensure that things like this do not happen, but in rare occurrences you can be let down by computers and technology. Very sorry about this Sir.
