“We bought a Mango Point AR at the end of past December with these issues: Problems derived from pre-shipping assembly: - The chain was incorrectly closed. The locking pin was out of place, so the chain was partially open (check the picture). More than a failure in the drive transmission, it's quite unsafe to ride with a chain in that condition. - The brakes had been attached in place but they hadn't been set up. There was no brake performance at all. I know that disc brakes need some use to bed in and increase their performance, but that is imposible to do when you pull the lever till the end and the reduction of speed is barely noticeably. As you can understand, this is a big issue regarding the safety of the bike. Problems derived from the lack of proper protection of the bike for transport: - Drop out hanger was bent, which is causing shifting malfunction of the rear gearing - Front disc rotor was bent, so the disc makes a metallic sound every lap - Rear rim slightly untrue, but this is the least of the problems. I sent an email to Mango and they quickly reply and send a box with the following material: - A new disc brake - A new chain - A new Tiagra rear derailleur, instead of a drop out hanger Now that the bike has been fixed, my wife is happy with it and she has done over 600km with no problems. In general I think Mango can make great bicycles for the money but they need to put more attention to the assembly and packaging. I hope the company improves, offering well-rounded bikes for a reasonable price.”

“Overall the experience of buying from you was ok, Your website is excellent. On receiving the bike I was pleased, you get what you pay for and I was pleased. However after less than 50 miles I find the bike has issues. The wheels both front and back makes noises.... Something metallic like metal filings can be heard inside both wheels. I took off the tyres as I was afraid of punctures, but the sound is coming from the deep dished hubs so you can't shake it out. The brakes make a noise like a hell cat, especially the front. Otherwise all ok. I still ride bike as a commuter, although I still haven't exceeded 100 miles and the bike feels well worn in. The frame is ok, and is comfortable. Better wheels would make a difference, but probably hard to do in this price range.”

“Received my bike and very excited about taking it for a ride only to find out that the gears are playing up,gave them a call and said that I'll be sent a video on how to fix it,a week has past and still no video,ended up loooking at youtube.And another thing,I ordered a point R starter pack and still waiting for the missing pump.”

“I really love the bike. I was disappointed though that it didn't come with the tool kit which I had to chase up. I've since had to ask three times for a pack of fixings for the basket which still hasn't arrived :(”

“I love the look of the bike, and think it is very good value for money, but was disappointed by three things. Firstly, the initial setup. There were no instructions on how to set up the bike (fitting handlebars, wheels, pedals, etc). As this was my first road bike, this meant a lot of looking on the internet for advice. I really think you'd do well to put together a little intro pack, maybe some material discussing how to position handlebars. Secondly, I think the bike was poorly set up. I had some problems with the disc brakes, which (on my first ride past the end of my road) warped due to heat. I'm guessing this is because the wheels were not aligned correctly, or possibly because the brakes had not been set up correctly. Thirdly, the rear derailleur cable frayed and needed replacing. Whatever the reason, it cost me almost £100 in parts and labour. That's something I'd expect after I'd been riding for six months rather than one.”

Hi Thomas, apologies for the missing instructions. We do have videos on our website too, but you should have reached out and we'd have sent the instructions again. It's not uncommon for disc brakes to require a bit of bedding in, but the rotors can easily be trued with your bare hands. A local bike shop might be able to use tools to straighten to a higher degree of accuracy, but the solution they provide is often nothing you can't do yourself :) Your feedback on positioning the bars is much appreciated, and we will see to update this.

“Having read Mango's bio I was keen to support this young upstart business. On the face of it, all seemed well. The bike looked brilliant, retailed at a competitive price, & supported a worthwhile cause (Movember special edition). However on delivery and initial use the crank arm continued to work loose. After several failed attempts to remedy the part was eventually replaced. Following this the pedal began to bend at its joint with the thread. Again efforts were made to correct & it was bent back in to line. However this only served to weaken the joint as the pedal has now sheared off. Sad to say that up to now the bike has had more time either in poor repair or broken than it has being 100% usable. Order No 00017008.”

“Delivery was on time and bike came with clear instructions to put together , how ever my bike makes a constant clicking sound when I pedal and my rear tyre needs to be re-aligned almost weekly and that is an inconvenience . I don't feel I am getting the best out of my mango bike which is a shame as I really love how it looks .”

“I've had the bike for nearly two months now. The bike seems well put together and the gearing is perfect for hilly commutes but not so much for downhill speed. I've taken it to London many times and it's perfect for the flat rounds and the constant stopping/starting. For the price it's good but there are a large number of downfalls and issues: 1. The bike developed a clicking noise in the drive train. Mango bikes were happy to send out a replacement part and reimburse me for having a bike shop fit it. 2. It's worth the upgrade to gatorskin tyres, my kenda tyres are full of scrapes and nicks but none have fully penetrated through the tyre. However an impact on the wheel still managed to damage the inner tube through the tyre. 3. The bar tape used is just awful, it tears easily and looks years old after a couple of weeks. I've replaced it with faux-leather bar tape. 4. One of the bolts on the rear wheel is ridiculously tight, bike shops have had trouble to get it off, I'm justing hoping I don't puncture the rear wheel any time soon. The customer service from Mango bikes has been great througout, but the problems with the bike are making me reluctant to be a returning customer.”

“I've had several punctures (one this morning), have wobbled several crank arms off and at 6ft4 the bike is too small for me without increasing the stem size. The bull horn bars are very wide even for me with very broad shoulders (I replaced with drops, fitting myself). The customer service I experienced was brilliant, but I am less impressed by the bike - but then again its a budget bike. For the price its ok, but I am selling this and have already ordered a replacement more expensive bike from elsewhere.”
