“I was happy with engineer's visit and checked with him to see if the pannel battery needed replacing. He tested the battery and advised me that the battery was in a satisfacory condition and did NOT need replacing. I was therefore not happy when I was later contacted by the office and was told that as the battery was over four years old that they recommended that the battery shoul be replaced. If nothing else,replacing a perfectly good battery is bad for the environment.”

Dear Mr Bakaj, Thank you for taking the time to review our services, and please accept my apologies for the recent confusion regarding your alarm panel backup battery. Having reviewed your service report, I can confirm that our engineer carried out a full test of the backup battery, and the readings were within the required parameters. As the battery is now over four years old, it is our company policy, in line with our suppliers' recommendations, to advise that batteries of this age are considered for replacement. This is purely a recommendation rather than a requirement, and the decision to proceed is entirely yours. I can see that our engineer correctly advised you of the battery's age and also noted that, based on the test results, the battery is currently performing as expected and does not require urgent replacement. When processing the service report, our office offered a return visit, free of charge, to replace the battery should you decide to proceed within 30 days of the service. You would only be charged for the cost of the battery itself. This goodwill gesture is intended to help minimise the risk of a battery-related callout between service visits, as such faults would unfortunately not be covered under your maintenance agreement. Reduced callout charges would apply. I do understand that the wording used by our engineer may have suggested that the battery would definitely last for at least another year, and for that I sincerely apologise. Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee the lifespan of any battery, as factors such as power outages, environmental conditions, and general deterioration can all affect its performance and are outside of our control. Following your feedback, we have reviewed this with all of our engineers to ensure that battery recommendations are communicated more clearly and consistently in the future, helping to avoid any similar misunderstandings. Once again, thank you for bringing this to our attention, and please accept my apologies for any confusion caused. “Shane arrived on time and was very polite. I left him to carry on with the service but I was there if he needed me. He completed the job confiming everything was in order and I didnt need a new battery as that was a question I asked. Very happy with Lynx as I have been a customer for about 35 yrs having used Lynx in my previos property”
