I have been shocked at how poor this service has been. As a retired Chartered Building Surveyor (FRICS) myself I had expected more. The surveyor that I selected has yet to reply to my e-mail and the other two keep bombarding me with, to my mind, overly aggressive phone messages and e-mails. I have just unsubscribed to one of these last two, not realising at any point that I had subscribed to anything from them. A most unpleasant experience.

We were given the names of two companies. I needed a Home Report for a Visa application and a detailed survey of the same property. The first company was not interested. The second company agreed to do the Home Report and a Level 3 Survey. They charged £600 which has been a total waste of money. They had no idea what was required regarding the Home Report, and the finished letter could not be used. They offered a £100 refund which I have declined because the level 3 survey was equally useless and told us nothing we did not already know. The agreement we signed said that their surveyor would go into loft spaces if accessible and safe. Accessible and safe was not defined. The surveyor decided she could not access the loft space, yet various people have accessed it in the past and at least two recently, one just the week before the survey. The surveyor wrongly claimed my husband told her on the day of the survey that the roof space was not accessible. The survey states :- 'It was not possible to view the joists as the loft which (sic) had been insulated and boarded over. The loft could not be entered into as it had not been boarded' We specifically wanted to know what the condition of the roof was so that we could decide whether to improve the property or demolish it and rebuild. We are no further forward regarding this. The survey was merely a description of the property and full of advice on how to maintain woodwork, ventilate, keep gutters clear etc, common sense stuff that most people would know and wouldn't need to spend hundreds of pounds to find out. We have owned numerous properties over the years and had numerous surveys carried out, they have all been detailed and where we have asked for suggestions to various problems these have been provided We have since had the Home Report carried out by someone else which has cost even more. We would not use a Find Local Chartered Surveyors site again,

Not efficient in regards to getting a survey appointment. Having waited couple of weeks I was told on the day of the survey my appointment is cancelled and now pushed back another week!

Don't bother! I just asked for a few quotes, which I received. Due to cost, I didn't make a booking. But have been constantly bombarded with emails and texts to write a review on the surveyor! Automated and pushy.

I received an obnoxious amount of emails from surveyors considering I didn't ask for any. Please perform an email verification step in the future.

Had a quick look at the website to get an idea of availability and pricing now I seem to be pestered by emails that I don't want. Their suppliers don't take no for an answer. My advice is do your own research least ways you're in control!

Awful. Nobody rang back. I chased one company and spoke to them. Promised to email me and never replied. Total waste of time.

Be careful they disclose your information to third parties without consensus. When you think you are just getting a quote, numerous institutions get your information and reach out.

Useless. Recommends a surveyor about 60 miles away.

It would appear that only one of the surveyors put forward were actually local.

A lot of money for very little service didn't use them. They were going to do a survey & write a report on my leaking chimney stack for the princely sum of £490, they weren't going up on roof but just looking at it from ground level I think they were having a laugh.

I wanted to find a surveyor for me to contact and was not expecting a barrage of calls and emails as soon as I hit search. While some people may like this, the "hard sell" and pressure has really put me off and I am seeking a surveyor via other means. Sorry.

Even though I was clear and specific in my requirements, not one contact had bothered to read what I had put.

I received five original estimates for my survey all of which were acceptable and then asked for more detail from all five in the survey. Only one company (Cosey) replied and bumped up the survey price by about a third to cover the extra information and detail I required. I then accepted their quote, but then they have come back and have said that their local surveyor is unable to do the work I require. Would you not have thought that they would have confirmed that he was able to do the work as required BEFORE they upped their estimate? So after a few weeks of dancing around the bed with the companies that responded, I have still not found a company that will do the work I want! Is that my fault or that of the companies recommended by your website?

The surveyor which you recommended and to whom you forwarded my details are no longer in business. I therefore made my own arrangements.
