“It proved to be very helpful when I had no idea who to go to! One suggestion would be that there should be a way to let other candidates know when I already chose one. Emails kept on coming in and I could not reply all the emails one by one so I just left some unanswered. Felt sorry for them, though!”

“We had a full survey done and the report was very comprehensive. Although we knew the date the survey was taking place, it would have been courteous to inform us that the surveyor had been without me having to check and also I had to phone and ask when the report would be sent as we had to wait a week for it. Overall happy with survey and cost.”

“Found the service to locate surveyors in my area good but the surveyor used was poor - impersonal service and missed a major issue with the roof of the house we bought which has now cost us a fortune to fix. Maybe ensure the surveyors who have proven good reviews to come up on the search?”

“I had a basic homebuyers survey done before buying my new house. The survey highlighted issues relating to damp. The previous owners had had a new damp proof course, but, on the advice of this survey, I had a damp and timber expert out who explained that their DPC had failed. As a result, I managed to knock money off the asking price. The survey was very thorough and was received within the time frame.”

“Very poor. Prices in quote were not reflective of actual prices once received from surveyors. Reccommend use RICS site direct and negotiate on survey fee”

“Stated the obvious though missed out or downplayed important issues that have cost us money. Usual caveats about get another survey for electrics/heating/plumbing made survey a waste of money. I would recommend anyone asking if they should get a survey to pay a builder to give you a survey, they would get more useful feedback about costs.”

“The website was fine and we found a surveyor through them which was reasonable and well completed. It was not clear to me however that my details were automatically being shared with companies and one of those companies then sent me a significant amount of marketing, contacting me daily to ask if I wanted a survey. I did not.”
