“Used this tool to find a building surveyor, submitting the search sent my details to multiple surveyors who began contacting me repeatedly to try get my buisness all at once. I also began getting multiple spam phone calls a day which weren't related to building surveys at all, these daily spam calls have not reduced since. I had not submitted my phone number anywhere else so I am almost certain this tool caused the issue. I do not recommend using this tool at all, in fact I would actively advise against using it.”

“their definition of local doesn't match mine, London N11 threw up four recommendations, only one had a London postcode, google did a much better job”

Thanks for your review. We were a little surprised by your comment, and curiosity prompted us to check the locations of the companies returned for your search. One has three offices across London, two are central London based, and the third in the north Surrey London suburbs, but operate across the capital. I would also add that the companies themselves select the postcodes where they wish to offer their services - we do not simply pick them at random (or even by proximity) from our database. In all cases, even where a company's main office may not be 'local', they will invariably employ surveyors local to their selected postcodes, so the surveyors carrying out the survey WILL be local and have all the necessary local knowledge for the survey. Why? because they do not want to be wasting unproductive time trekking long distances between surveys, time which is far better spent on actual surveys and the preparation of their reports.

“Being new to the area we needed to find a selection of surveyors to decide the best one to suit our needs. Your website was easy to navigate and gave us 3 choices to consider, each company's profile was easy to access and their prices based upon our property details were clear to understand. We eventually chose River Crest Surveyors because of the clear pricing and list of works to be carried out in the level 3 survey. They were very quick to follow up our request and have arranged to carry out our survey in the next 14 days.”

“I appointed RES to do a level 3 survey for me. From the beginning they were very helpful and both Barbara and Josh took the time to answer my questions beforehand. Josh did a very thorough report, which was sent to me within a couple of days and then went through it with me explaining his findings. I am very happy with the service and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Josh and RES.”

“I had 2 responses through Yourhousesurvey.co.uk I was £500 and the other £852 I checked what both were offering in terms of service and both were the same except The £500 could offer a date for survey only 2 days hence instead of almost 2 weeks I paid on line for the £500 service. This came from Your survey ltd from Dyseth they in turn booked Farrell Mills Ltd from West Derby Liverpool. Some 55 miles from the property to be surveyed!! Either John Dillon or Tony Flynn were to carry out the survey- Directors of the company. As soon as the money was taken and the emails received they had booked the survey for the following day. On the day mid morning I received an email to say the surveyor had now declined the survey stating ' 'that it is outside the scope of a Homebuyer Survey and outside of his expertise. He recommended that you book a Building Survey with somebody who specialises in that type of property.' This type of property he described at 'Geogian syle'. !! Its a 1973 brick built detached house.!! I submitted a couple of photos of the house to justify my assertion. I cancelled them in disgust and have booked another local surveyor after asking agents for advice. I was refunded the £500 today.”

“It was my first look at this website and l needed to look for a more local company to do the survey on my hopefully new property which is in the south east corner of Hampshire. the prices ranged between a low one of £339 to a high one + VAT of over £800. However most did not give much away as to were they are based. You had to dig through the details to find an address, and with Surveyors looking for work it took a bit of time. In the end l settled on a firm based in Eastleigh a place l have not visited for many years but no. Overall it may well be more helpful to others if the firms gave a location (Town etc) as to where they are based. So a more local one can be found overall l have scored yourself 4.6, but just get the surveyors to adjust their adverts as to where they are based it would be more helpful.”

You did send me one local surveyor and that company is the closest to my property that I've come across. Apologies, for the initial mistake. I have no reason to complain about the information you provided.”

“What a useless website. In all cases, the quotes I received bore no relation to the actual prices given when I contacted the firms - e.g. quotes for around £650 turned out to be over £1000. This is supposedly because the quote was an "estimate" - but it's just a plain old lie.”

“Cant get higher because the SS was never done, because there were last minute developments which currently, remove the need for a Survey but............
