“The requirement was for an external survey only. Each organisation that contacted me would only provide a full house survey. The requirement entered should have been passed on to the relevant organisations.”

“I used a company called Davies Rural property consultants ON the 18/01/17 SHE asked for payment up front she told us that she would carry out the survey on the 24/1/17 she phoned the estate agent to say she had car trouble and made another appointment on the 28/1/17 at 11am at 1030 the estate agent tried to contact her to pick up the keys at 1040 she phoned my partner to say she had meeting at 2pm and would come after that. my partner tried to save her time by suggesting she pick up the keys on the way she told my partner not to plan her day and later sent me an email telling me my partner was rude to her and was no longer happy to do the survey and would get her book keeper to refund the fee.I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT HER AND TO DATE HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED MY FEE IAM NOT SURE IF THIS IS A SCAM FEEL LET DOWN”

We're sorry you've had a negative experience with a surveyor you found through our website. Ms Davies is an experienced RICS Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer. It is common practice for surveyors to require payment of fees prior to any survey being carried out, and certainly not indicative of any 'scam' or untoward behaviour. All RICS Members are bound by a strict code of conduct, and in the event of any dispute, you should first take the matter up with the surveyor in question - they are required by RICS to have and follow a written dispute procedure. Should things not be resolved at that point, you have the option to refer the matter to RICS Regulation who can take things up on your behalf.

“Using the website was very easy. Just completed a form and within 24 hours we'd had three quotes. We chose Andy Tew from 360 Surveying who contacted the vendors immediately to book a date. Within hours of his visit we had an emailed copy of his very comprehensive report, which, as a result, led to us withdrawing from the purchase. We have now found another property and have again asked Andy to do the survey.”

“Do not use this site! Once some of the Surveyors got our details they harassed us with emails, texts and calls, particularly from Your Survey Ltd who had to be told to stop contacting us. If they are that desperate for work we doubt they are any good. We also started getting a large number of phishing emails for the first time so think security somewhere is compromised.”

“The Surveyors that I called that were listed didn't do Structural reports which what was required even though they were registered with the correct body. so was not really any help. However, they were polite and advised onwards.”

“I live in London and my daughter was proposing to buy a house in York, a city where neither of us knew anybody. How should we set about finding a RICS Surveyor in York? And then I stumbled across this excellent website. It was very easy to use and we quickly ended up contacting several seemingly-excellent people whose offices were close to the house my daughter was interested in. All came highly recommended and most priced their services pretty sensibly. We settled on one and he called us immediately after completing his survey to discuss his preliminary findings and followed this up with his written report a very short while later. If I was awarding him stars personally, he would get the maximum allowed. And I'd award the same high score to the Database which identified him (and other likely contenders) to us.”
