Just a little word of warning as the company fails to present information clearly on the product page. If you order stretcher bars or any other form of moulding you will often get a minimum quantity of about three metres. So if you order five different one metres pieces and you pay for them at checkout you will get five pieces measuring about three metres each with an invoice that has suddenly doubled. After I contacted the company the only option was to return everything all together including the lengths that I have already used. There was no understanding from the companies side at all.

Dear Customer, thank you for your feedback. We advise customers that we round up the length as it can vary batch to batch. We add a note to the order itself at time of ordering and also on the confirmation email. Despite this, we have offered to collect the order at our expense and arrange a credit for you. Items arrived promptly but poorly packaged, the 3m mouldings being wrapped in a number of flimsy single sided pieces of corrugated cardboard. Before unwrapping there was clear damage as the package was not rigid as you would expect. On unwrapping two of the three mouldings were broken, one into two pieces and one into three. I believe I was reasonable in that I accepted that one of the moulding was useable as the break was close to where I would be cutting the moulding anwway. Despite two emails and photographs 10 days have elapsed without response. I will take my business elsewhere

How did you do? Very badly! I wanted just 1 metre of red nylon loop cloth (357) Why is it only sold in 5 metre lengths ? You have to cut it off a roll individually so it wouldn’t hurt to cut off 1 metre. That’s all I want and I don’t want to have to pay for and throw away 4 metres of cloth. I asked that as I had placed an order for over £600 maybe as a goodwill gesture you could alter your rules, it would appear that was too much to ask! Ok you have have lost my custom apart from essential purchases. I’m a ‘brummy’ went to b’ham art college,wher’s your loyalty?

My poor review Isn’t regarding the items, it was the 1st time I’ve ordered (on-line) they were fine and did the job! The issue I had was being charged nearly £10 for carriage which when it arrived was due mainly to the 2 large catalogues in with the very small order! This was compounded by the response I got when I complained that I didn’t need, want or ask for the catalogue (If you recall my order was done on line!) To be told they always send them out to 1st time customers and the carriage was for picking etc. And although I had said I was unhappy on that I was paying for their attempt at promo at a customers expense I was also unhappy about the waste this caused, and I asked for recompense for the £10 carriage.... guess what platitudes and no mention of a refund! Personally I find this a poor response to what I believe was a genuine customer complaint and although the items were as they said I would not use them again on principle!!

Dear customer, Thank you for your email. Yes we do add catalogues to every new customer's order, the IT team were working on an option to 'opt out' which is now live. Regardless of this, the £9.95 charge is for picking and packing of your order (despite what you are ordering). Before you confirmed your order the charge of carriage is clearly shown before you confirm your order and on your order confirmation email. We wouldn't refund this due to the above. Very disappointed with this service as I feel like I've paid to be sent two heavy catalogues in a big box which was never asked for, Never opted in for advertising. If I ordered this small pot of paint directly from the manufacturing company it would have cost me £5.95 for delivery, but you guys charged me £9.95. And wasted my time/ trees as the catalogues are taking up space in my bin. And stop sending me emails I never opted in.

The catalogues are added automatically for every new customer of ours, and we do not charge for this. The delivery charges would have shown before you confirmed your order. Said to arrive on tuesday 6 phone calls and three days later it arrived! Alas at the bottom of the road so I went out and carried it the 100 ft myself to my door. Packaging looked like it had been through a washing machine. Recommend collect in person from lion if you can.

My first order - possibly my last! Placed the order before Noon - missed next day delivery with no notification and when queried there was every attempt made to blame the courier when clearly through conversation the problem was in despatch! [unless there was a stock or stock allocation issue] Delivery made this morning and no have to commit to filling out a form and taking photographs of damaged products / poor packaging & what I suspect are a replacement product as the quality is so poor - a super white faced mount board with black core that looks a mottled grey as the white face looks so thin it shows the black surface PLUS there are dirty marks on the surface - brown dusty …. either feet or hand marks or ?? Totally unacceptable! I can go to a local major retailer of "average / basic" quality boards who manage to ship them to store, unpackage them and put them on display and let customers handle them and then me buy and transport home with less damage. This is my first Lion order and am wholly unimpressed to the point that in an emergency I purchased a sheet of mountboard from a local framing house, paid less for it and was better quality ~ maybe I should strike a deal there or checkout his supplier! [Photos of damage to be sent ASAP]

Very dissatisfied with lack of response from Lion to explain why a high value mount cutter was left in a conspicuous place by our property fence by their courier without notification of delivery in spite of the sales office telling me I would receive a message from the courier . It was luck I saw the package just after it had been "dumped " at the property and before somebody walked off with it . My future framing and mount business will certainly not be with Lion .

Damaged goods delivered 7 out of 10 sheets mountboard ! Not happy opened sat so could not contact you, will phone mon am . I needed the mounts urgently , will wait a replacement delivery Rosie Read

I am very disappointed by your substantial reduction in your holding of Minerva stock. Over the past two years the level of choice of the types of frames and the colour etc of the frames have substantially reduced. This has caused me problems in filling repeat orders. One specific complaint is your discontinuance of spacers for Minerva deep rebate mouldings and the reduction of choice these moulding. On my last visit the choice was reduce to black onlying. I am also not impressed by your removal from stock of Minerva slips. I am only a small time framer and I don't feel at all valued by your company. Not very good at all, I placed my first order online for a moulding that said it was in stock, I also checked this via website live chat. I was phoned 3/4 days later to say it was not in stock and there were not really any alternatives but they will cancel the order and I can look myself if I want and place a new one. If a discount or similar was at least offered of next order I may consider at least trying the service again but it wasn’t and just lost me a few days processing my clients order and left me to go back to them and apologise whilst my previous supplier fulfilled what I needed.

Didn't offer me a choice of delivery. Its 'next day' or nothing. Charged me £9.95 delivery for a £75 order that weighed less than half a kilo and measured just 24cm x 17cm x 16cm. I wasn't in a hurry and didn't need or want 'next day delivery. Ended up paying at least £5.00 too much.

Hiya, Thank you for your feedback. We simplified our delivery options just over a month ago to only have one set fee for carriage which is £9.95. We aim to despatch all orders placed before noon on an overnight service. If you place your order online and it is £125+ (before VAT) delivery is automatically free! Best regards, Lion.

We ordered some frame moulding samples 2 weeks ago; on Monday (15th October) we had an e mail to say they had been dispatched. We still have not received them. I have an exhibition in the first week of November and was hoping to use your services- that obviously won’t be possible now.

placed order tues. driver rang wed. morning. we told him we didn't open till 10.00am. he said no problem will deliver tomorrow after 10.00 Thursday pm contacted driver, same one, he said he tried to deliver 8am. we said we told you we didn't open till 10.00. he wasn't interested. said someone would deliver tomorrow, Friday. We rang your office, lady very helpful, she rang your delivery people and asked them to put it on a post 10.00 Friday. we had a £2500 being picked up Sat. and were waiting framers points. We rang Friday pm and was told by your office that it hadn't gone out on the van. Brilliant. Your office then instructed your delivery co. to deliver Sat. That didn't happen either. Parcel has just arrived, battered and bruised, 11.00am Monday. The photographs the drivers are taking when they say they try to deliver are bogus. Why, but why, are you dealing with a company that is so inept, irresponsible and obviously with no regards to your customers. It is much easier for us to order from Wessex, they deliver twice a week. We have preferred in the past to deal with you both for Re-dezine and Howarth Gallery but if this is the service your delivery company provides we will be extremely reluctant to order from you again. I cannot afford to have disappointed customers through no fault of our own and I would image you feel the same. Regards Richard Ellison

ordered foam board. The packaging was badly damaged as was some of the foam board. I was not in when it was delivered, otherwise I would have refused delivery.
