TEFL is very professional. I have really enjoyed doing the course it is well worth the money. I have been so grateful for the support and help I received from Sahm Amirsedghi from the academic support team. Responses have been very quick and it is well worth doing the course.

Although the individual course tutors weren’t great to answer back my queries, Sahm from the academic support team was a great helped and gave me as much assistance as he could. In general the turnaround time for assignment corrections and answers to enquiries was very fast.

Although unfortunately the country I was interested in travelling to had no vacancies, I was sent many links to local institutions to enquire independently to.

I chose the Level 5 Diploma course, which includes One-To-One Online and also Business English as additional components, largely because of the online course. At age 60, and clinically vulnerable because of targeted treatment for blood cancer, my aim was only ever to work online with individuals, or possibly small groups. So a fair amount of the information about class teaching was irrelevant for me. Having said that, it was useful for learning all the general theory but I needed the extra specialised information for what I'm planning to do. I learned later that the two additional modules are viewed as qualifications in ESP (English for Specific Purposes), and that having done this extra study demonstrates that you haven't just opted for the bare minimum in terms of learning and qualifications. Doing the additional two assignments helped me consolidate much of the general course learning too, as it wasn't until required to apply the instruction and theory that I really took the information on board and realised the value of structuring teaching so that it feels both accessible and fun and is also specific, personalised and designed to reinforce and check learning has taken place. Assessment feedback was warm and encouraging, and I did realise the academic team was available for advice should it be needed. One-to-one Online was my favourite bit of the diploma course by far. It was packed with interesting information, videos made by Lisa (which were interesting, helpful and useful in breaking up the reams of written matter - something I feel would be helpful across the course). I'd also like to have seen more utilization of videos from e.g. the Khan Institute, and others (like Papa Teach Me, ETJ English and Speak Confident English - just a few of the great resources I found myself). For me, teaching is all about engendering a passion for lifelong learning - I realised this working through the course - and a big part of this will be introducing learners to what I consider to be the best of all I've discovered on the internet, which is groaning under the weight of fabulous (as well as dire) material these days. Part of the role a teacher can play is to help filter this and set a student on the right track. I was introduced to Blended/Flipped Learning on this course too, where a lot of the initial learning can be done outside classes utilising videos and other internet resources freeing up lesson time for practising new (and recycling old) knowledge and taking part in more personal and natural interaction - useful and rewarding for both the learner and the teacher. I'm about to put myself out there to talk to learners for real. At this stage, I feel a little apprehensive, having not had the chance to practise with actual students. (I think i-to-i do offer additional live practice sessions, actually, if you can afford it). But I feel I have a solid body of knowledge behind me, and I've built up a bank of resources through my assignment work. So I don't feel unprepared and am also excited to take the plunge as, each time I completed my teaching plans at the end of modules, I really felt keen to try them out and even felt a little disappointed I wasn't doing it for real. In summary, I found the studying rewarding and edifying and the academic team supportive and approachable. I recommend i-to-i as a company and their 300 hour diploma qualification.

This was a very enjoyable course. The only thing I would like different, is to receive an actual percentage for assignments so you know if you have just scraped through with 75 or if you have done very well with 95.

I did the 180 hour i-to-i TEFL course. The content of the course was well structured and organised. I learnt a lot about teaching methodologies. The feedback I got from my tutor Peter Bowdery was helpful, as he highlighted positive feedback, and gave suggestions on what to work on. I highly recommend this TEFL course!
