“I don’t live in London. But I’m a regular visitor and whenever I’m there I’ll always pop into H R Higgins to buy some coffee and tea. The goods and the services are always of a very high quality. One small bug bear however - I used to buy the medium roast Bourbon coffee. However, the medium roast has now been mysteriously discontinued- it’s now a dark roast only, and it makes for a much more bitter drink. Sad, but there you go… nothing lasts forever, does it?”

Hi Stuart, Thank you for your feedback, you are quire right, we did used to offer the Brazil Yellow Bourbon, in a medium roast, however the Roaster made the decision to only offer one roast, rather than two, as ultimately, he felt the coffee was at its best, profiled as a darker roast. We believe that this highlights all the hard work that the farmers do without compromise. We roast this Brazil Yellow Bourbon dark to bring out its delectable smoothness and flavours of rich dark chocolate with blackcurrant and plum notes.

“Standard of the coffee is as always very good, the selection however is somewhat more limited than it used to be, and if I am really nitpicking, you used to make sure the beans were really compresed in the packet before vacuuming it, making it easier to store the packets on the shelf but not now unfortunately, and with arthritis in my hands it makes it more difficult for me to squish them down to fit on the shelf.”

“This coffee is a gift, so can't let you know at the moment as it is for Christmas. I must get some for myself. However, I discovered I had made an error with my order and have beans instead of ground, so hope that is okay with my friends. Thank you again for your help with this order.”

“I ordered a substantial amount from Higgins as gifts and coffee for myself, it is probably my fault to a certain degree but I didn’t check the box entirety and I was quite taken aback as the two coffee containers I ordered were not in in the box! Shame really as it was to go with the coffee I’d bought as a gift! Plus I ordered a measuring spoon which again I’ve not received .”

“As it's tricky to get to the shop when it's open I am resigned to ordering online. I can't fault the quality of the coffee (although the caddy is seriously overpriced...) but the delivery information was incorrect. I'd rearranged my schedule to be in when it was delivered but it turned out to be a waste as the parcel wasn't shipped when they said. If you can improve that I could be a regular”

“The coffee is good but I don’t like your new system. For years I used to be able to go to my account and just repeat an order, but now i have to do a one off order each time which doesn’t make me feel a valued customer, (perhaps I’m not). A regular delivery does not suit me as sometimes we get through the coffee in three weeks, sometimes it’s four and it can be five. I thought your old system worked very well and as the saying goes…if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. From order to delivery the service is prompt and i rate you 4* for coffee and delivery”

“Usual excellent coffee & tea. However I’ve had a delivery problem, with one packet of coffee missing from a damaged package. I have contacted Higgins and heard nothing back. Untypical poor customer service, this time.”

“Very impressed with the speed of delivery, and the choice of blends. They are one company that offer genuinely dark roasted beans, compared to many competitors. I think the subscription discount is inadequate though, you are better off waiting for offers rather than having a 5% subscription discount.”
