“H.R. Higgins (Coffee-man) Ltd It isn’t every business which can celebrate 75 years of successful trading; it takes a sustained effort and real commitment to develop and maintain the quality of service which that success requires. I’ve been relying on H.R. Higgins (Coffee-man) Ltd for nearly 40 years, visiting their shop in central London as a young graduate on the recommendation of Sheffield’s then coffee-master, Tony Pollard, as he struggled to keep his own business going here. ‘They’re the best’, he told me, and he was right. In recent years challenges to crops from our alarmingly erratic climate have made the Higgins’ expertise and determination to maintain the quality of their goods even more important: old favourites have, sadly, disappeared from their lists as the quality has faded, but the quest for excellence has brought exciting innovations, new countries of origin, and, thanks to the lovely neat website, with much more information now about what to enjoy in each coffee (and tea). I only visit London very occasionally nowadays, and rely on the splendid staff at Higgins’ Waltham Abbey premises who send my orders by post. The service is marvellously friendly and helpful as well as absolutely efficient. Nothing is too much trouble. There aren’t very many companies from whom I buy regularly to whom I would give my completely unqualified recommendation, but H.R. Higgins sell fantastic coffee and tea, and do it in a way that feels like a friendly smile—they constitute a national treasure and have my absolute endorsement.”

“I have been purchasing Higgins' Creole Blend in 1kg vacuum sealed bags for over 30 years. It is not cheap but it is still most intense coffee sensation I know. No wonder it is their most popular blend with its smokey, chocolatey finish. Highly recommended!”
